핑거데이

[Scene: A Theater, the gang is in the audience wating for a play of Joey's to start.]극장. 일행들이 조이의 연극이 시작되기를 기다리면서 관객석에 있다.  

Rachel: (reading the program) Ooh! Look! Look! Look! Look, there's Joey's picture!  (프로그램북을 읽으며) 봐!!봐!! 조이의 사진이 있어! This is so exciting! 완전 재밌겠다. 

Chandler: You can always spot someone who's never seen one of his plays before.조이의 연극을 전에 본적이 없는 사람은 항상 알아낼수 있지.  Notice, no fear, no sense of impending doom... 주목하고  두려움이 없고 곧 닥치게될 불행을 느끼지 못하고 

Ross: "The role of man number three will not be played by Vic Shapiro" 3번 남자의 역할은 빅 새피로에 의해서 연기되어지지 않을겁니다. We came on the wrong night. 우리 잘못된 밤에 왔다. (날 잘못 잡은거 같아.) 

Monica:  I can't believe I forgot to bring a magazine. 내가 잡지 가져오는 것을 잊다니 믿을수가 없어 ( 잡지를 가져왔어야 했는데) 

Rachel: Come on you guts, this might be good. 얘들아, 그러지마,  좋을수도 있자나.

Phoebe: I don't know. The exclamation point in the title scares me.  모르겠어.  제목에 있는 느낌표가 무서워. (제목부터 심상치 않어) 

(Gesturing) Y'know, it's not just Freud, it's Freud! (손짓을 하며) 있자나,  프로이드가 아니라 프로이드! 잖아. 

(The lights dim.)조명이 어두워진다. 

Ross: Oh, shhh, shh. Magic is about to happen. 오, 쉬쉬.. 마법이 시작되려고 해. (연극이 시작되려해) 

(The lights go up on the stage, Joey, as Freud, is talking to a female patient.) 조명이 무대에 켜진다.  프로이드 역할인 조이가 여성환자에게 이야기중이다. 

Joey: Vell, Eva, ve've done some excellent vork here, and I vould have to say, 자, 에바.  우리 여기서 아주 훌륭히 치료를 해왔어요.  그리고 나는 말해야만 하는데 your pwoblem is qviiite clear. (He goes into a song and dance number.)  당신의 문제가 아주 확실하다는거요.  ( 그는 노래를 부르고 거기에 맞춰 춤춘다) 

Opening Credits

[Scene: The Theater, the play has ended and everyone is applauding.  As soon as the cast leaves, the gang all groan and sit down heavily.] 극장. 연극이 끝나고 모든사람들이 박수를 친다. 출연자들이 떠나자 마자 일행들이 모든 신음하며 털썩앉는다. 

Rachel: God. I feel violated. 맙소사. 나 기분상했어. 

Monica: Did anybody else feel they just wanted to peel the skin off their body, to have something else to do? 무언가 다른것을 하기 위해서 자기몸에서 피부라도 벗겨내고 싶어한다고 느낀사람있어? 

Chandler: (staring at a woman across the room) Ross, ten o'clock. (건너편에 있는 여자를 응시하면서)  로스, 10시야 

Ross: Is it? Feels like two. 그래? 새벽 두시처럼 느껴지는데 

Chandler: No, ten o'clock. 아니. 열시라고!!!! 

Ross: What? 뭐? 

Chandler: (sighs and gestures to explain) There's a beautiful woman at eight, nine, ten o'clock! (한숨쉬며 설명하는하는 몸짓을 하며) 8시, 9시, 10시방향으로 예쁜여자가 있다고! 

Ross: Oh. Hel-lo! 오! 이런! 

Chandler: She's amazing! She makes the women that I dream about look like short, fat, bald men! 정말 죽인다! 저 여자가 지금껏 내가 꿈꿔온 여자들을 모두 키 작고 뚱뚱한 대머리남자로 느끼게 하네. 

Monica: Well, go over to her! She's not with anyone. 그럼 한 번 가봐! 지금 혼자잖아.  

Chandler: Oh yeah, and what would my opening line be? 'Excuse me. Blarrglarrghh.' 그래, 가서 뭐라고 말을 걸지? "실례합니다. 어쩌구저쩌구."  

Rachel: Oh, c'mon. She's a person, you can do it! 뭐 어때, 한 번 해봐. 저 여자도 사람이야. 할 수 있어!  

Chandler: Oh please, could she be more out of my league? Ross, back me up here. 아무래도 저 여자는 나한테 너무 과분한 것 같아. 로스, 도와줘. 

Ross: He could never get a woman like that in a million years. 너 백년이 지나도 저런 여자 못만나.  

Chandler: Thank you, buddy.  고맙다, 친구 

Phoebe: Oh, oh, but y'know, you always see these really beautiful women with these really nothing guys, you could be one of those guys. 그치만 항상 보면 진짜 예쁜 여자들이 별것도 아닌 남자들이랑 다니는 거 많이 봤잖아.  그러니까 너도 그런 남자들처럼 충분히 될 수 있어.  

Monica: You could do that! 너 충분히 할수있어. 

Chandler: Y'think? 그렇게 생각해? 

All: Absolutely! 응!! 

Chandler: Oh God, I can't believe I'm even considering this...  오, 내가 감히 이런 일을 시도해보려고 생각하다니........  

Ross: C'mon! C'mon! 어서 가봐! 

Ross: Stand back. incoming ego sharpnel. 뒤로 물러나.  들어오는 자부심의 파편이 튈라. (아마 오로라에게 퇴짜맞을때 안좋은 소리 들을거란 의미인듯) 

Chandler: All right. I can do this. (He walks over to her but just stands there.)  좋아, 나 할수있어  (챈들러가 그녀에게 걸어갔지만 그곳에 그냥 서있는다._ 

Aurora: ...Yes? 네? 

Chandler: Hi.... um... okay, next word... would be... Chandler! Chandler is my name, and, uh... 안녕하세요,.... 어,......다음에 할 말은....... 챈들러! 챈들러가 제 이름이에요, 그리고, 어,.... 

(He clears his throat noisily)...hi. ( 목을 가다듬고) 안녕하세요.  

Aurora: Yes, you said that. 그 말은 아까 했잖아요.  

Chandler: Yes, yes I did, but what I didn't say was what I was about to say, what I wanted to say was, 그렇죠. 아까 했죠. 제가 아직 안한 말 중에 하려고 한 말이, 거 뭣이냐, 어....  

uh... would you like to go out with me sometime, thankyou, goodnight.  저랑 가끔 데이트해 주실래요? 고마워요, 안녕히 계세요.  

(He walks back to the others but she calls him back.)  그가 다시 일행들에게로 걸어오는데 그녀가 챈들러를 뒤에서 부른다. 

Aurora: Chandler? 챈들러 

(Joey enters from behind a curtain.  The others all talk at once.) 조이가 커튼뒤에서 들어돈다.  모두 일제히 곧장 말을 건다. 

All: Hey! You're in a play! I didn't know you could dance! You had a beard! 야! 너가 연극을 하다니! 네가 춤출 줄은 몰랐는 걸! 수염도 달고!  

Joey: What'd you think? 어떻게 봤어?  

(Pause) 

All: ...Hey! You're in a play! I didn't know you could dance! You had a beard! 야! 너가 연극을 하다니! 네가 춤출 줄은 몰랐는 걸! 수염도 달고!  

Joey: C'mon, you guys, it wasn't that bad. I was the lead.얘들아, 그 정도는 아니었잖아. 내가 주연이였다고.It was better than that thing I did with the trolls, at least you got to see my head지난 번 요정들과 했던것보다는 훨씬 나은거야. 적어도 너희가 내 머리는 봤으니까.  

All: (admitting) Saw your head. Saw your head. 그래, 우리가 너 머리를 봤지! 그렇지!! 

Joey: How about the German accent? 내 독일어 억양 어땠어?

Rachel: Oh, Ya . All of your "W"s were "V"s.오. 그래.. 그냥 너의 W 발음이 모두 V 발음인것뿐이였지.

 Chandler: (running back) She said yes!! She said yes!!  (뛰어서 돌아오며) 그녀가 승낙했어!  그녀가 승낙했어! 

(To Joey) Awful play, man. Whoah. (To All) Her name's Aurora, and she's Italian,  (조이에게) 끔찍한 연극이었다, 임마. (모두에게) 이름은 오로라인데, 이탈리아 여자야.  and she pronounces my name 'Chand-lrr'. 'Chand-lrr'. I think I like it better that way.  내 이름을 이렇게 발음하더라구. '챈들-러' '챈드-ㄹ러'. 그렇게 부르니까 더 좋았어.  (To Joey) Oh, listen, the usher gave me this to give to you. (He fishes a card out of his pocket.) 아, 참. 안내원이 너한테 이거 전해주라고 했어. (그가 주머니에서 명함을 찾아 꺼낸다) 

Rachel: What is it? 뭐지? 

Joey: The Estelle Leonard Talent Agency. Wow, an agency left me its card! Maybe they wanna sign me! '에스텔 레오나드 탤런트 에이전시'. 와, 에이전시가 나한테 명함을 줬어! 나랑 계약하고 싶은 가봐  

Phoebe: Based on this play? ...Based on this play! 이연극을 보고????     이연극을 봤구나!!!!!!! 

Joey: Look! There is a note on the back Loved your work. Call me asap.봐봐! 뒤에 메모가 있어.  당신의 연극이 맘에 들어요.  빨리 연락주세요. 

Joey : She was obviously moved.  완전 감동받았나봐. 

Ross:  You should call her fairly quickly. 너 빨리 전화해줘야겠다. 

Joey: Yeah! As soon as possible. 그럼. 당장해야지!!

[Scene: Central Perk, everyone else is there as Chandler enters.] 챈들러가 들어올때 모두가 함께 있다.

Chandler: Hey, kids. 안녕. 친구들

All: Hey. 안녕

Phoebe: (reading Monica's palm) No, 'cause this line is passion, and this is... just a line. (모니카의 손금을 읽으며) 아니야, 이 선이 애정선이고, 이 선은....... 그냥 주름이야.

Chandler: Well, I can't believe I've been here almost seven seconds and you haven't asked me how my date went. 야, 이거 나 온지 벌써 7초가 다 돼 가는데, 데이트 어땠냐고 아무도 안 물어 보기야?

Monica: Oh, right, right. How was your date, 'Chand-lrr'? 아, 맞다. 데이트 어땠니, '챈드-ㄹ러' ?

Chandler: It was unbelievable. I-I've never met anyone like her. 정말 끝내줬지. 그런 여자는 처음이었어. She's had the most amazing life! She was in the Israeli army... 파란만장한 인생을 살았더군! 이스라엘 여군이었다는데.......

(A flashback of Aurora and Chandler on their date in Central Perk is denoted by italics.) 센트럴파크에서 오로라와 챈들러의 데이트 이야기는 이탤릭체로 제공된다.)

Aurora: ...Luckily none of the bullets hit the engine block. So, we made it to the border, 다행히 엔진에는 총알이 하나도 안 맞아서 국경까지 갈 수 있었죠. but just barely, and I- ...I've been talking about myself all night long, I'm sorry. 그런데 거의...... 거의 제 얘기만 하고 있었군요. 미안해요. What about you? Tell me one of your stories. 챈들러, 당신 얘기도 좀 해봐요.

Chandler: Alright. Once I got on the subway, right, and it was at night, 좋아요. 한 번은 제가 밤에 지하철을 탔죠. and I rode it all the way to Brooklyn... just for the hell of it 그리고는 브룩클린까지 갔어요..... 그냥 아무 의미도 없이.

Chandler: We talked 'til like two. It was this perfect evening... more or less. 거의 새벽 두시까지 얘기했어. 정말 더할나위 없는 데이트였지. 거의......

Aurora: ...All of a sudden we realised we were in Yammon. 그런데 갑자기 우리가 예멘에 와 있다는 걸 깨달았죠.

Chandler: Oh, I'm sorry, so 'we' is? 어, 잠깐만요, '우리'라면?

Aurora: 'We' would be me and Rick. 저랑 릭이요.

Joey: Who's Rick? 릭이 누군데?

Chandler: Who's Rick? 릭이 누군데?

Aurora: My husband. 제 남편이요.

All: Ooooohhh. 으~~, 저런.

Chandler: Oh, so you're divorced? 오, 저런. 이혼하셨군요.

Aurora: No. 아니에요.

Chandler: Oh, I'm sorry, then you're widowed?...Hopefully? 아, 미안합니다. 사별하셨군요... 바라건데?

Aurora: No, I'm still married. 아니에요. 아직 결혼한 상태에요.

Chandler: So tell me, how do- how do you think your husband would feel about you sitting here with me?... 그럼, 댁의 남편께서는 저랑 당신이 이렇게 앉아있는것에 대해서 어떻게 생각하실까요? Sliding your foot so far up my pant leg you can count the change in my pocket? 테이블 밑으로 발을 뻗어서 내 바지가랑이 한쪽을 밀어대서 제 주머니에 있는 잔돈조차 셀수있을정도인데요.

Aurora: Don't worry. I imagine he'd be okay with you because really, he's okay with Ethan. 괜찮아요. 에단 만나는 것도 괜찮다고 했으니까 괜찮다고 할거같아요.

Chandler: Ethan? There's, there's an Ethan? 에단?? 에단도 있어요?

Aurora: Mmmm... Ethan is my... boyfriend. 음.. 에단은 나의... 남자친구예요.

All: What?! 뭐라고????

Chandler: So explain something to me here, uh, what kind of a relationship do you imagine us having if you already have a husband and a boyfriend? 이제 저한테 설명해 주실 게 있을텐데요, 남편이랑 남자친구까지 있는 상황에서 저한테 바라는 관계는 어떤 걸까요?

Aurora: I suppose mainly sexual. 아마 섹스 파트너겠죠.

handler: ...Hm. ....흠

Monica: Oh. I'm sorry it didn't work out. 제대로 일이 안 풀려서 속상했겠다.

Chandler: What 'not work out'? I'm seeing her again on Thursday. Didn't you listen to the story? 제대로 안 풀리다니? 목요일에 또 만나기로 했어. 너 내 얘기 안 들었니?

Monica: Didn't you listen to the story? 너야말로 제대로 듣긴 들은거야? I mean, this is twisted! How could you get involved with a woman like this이건 비틀린 관계야. 그렇게 문란한 여자랑 관계를 맺다니 말이 되니?

Chandler: Well, y'know, I had some trouble with it at first too, 글쎄, 나도 처음에는 좀 곤란했는데 but the way I look at it is, I get all the good stuff: all the fun, all the talking, all the sex; 상황을 있는 그대로를 바라보고 좋은것만 취하기로 했어. 재미보고. 대화나누고. 섹스도 하고 and none of the responsibility. I mean, this is every guy's fantasy! 책임질 건 아무것도 없으니 말이야. 이건 모든 남자들의 꿈이라구!!

Phoebe: Oh, yeah. That is not true. Ross, is this your fantasy? 그럴리가 없어. 로스, 너도 그런 걸 꿈꾸는 거야?

Ross: No, of course not! (Thinks) ...Yeah, yeah, it is. 당연히 아니지! (생각해보며) 아니야. 그게 맞아.

Monica: What? So you guys don't mind going out with someone else who's going out with someone else? 뭐? 그럼 남자들은 다른 남자랑 사귀고 있는 여자를 만나는 게 아무 상관없다는 거야?

Joey: I couldn't do it. 난 그렇게는 못 해!

Monica: Good for you, Joey. 그래야지, 조이.

Joey: When I'm with a woman, I need to know that I'm going out with more people than she is. 내가 여자를 만날때, 그여자가 만나는 사람보다 내가 더 많은 사람과 데이트한다는걸 알 필요가 있어.

(결국 자기가 만나는 여자가 다른 남자를 만나고 있으면 자기는 더 많은 여자를 만나야만 한다는 말)

Ross: Well, y'know, monogamy can be a, uh, tricky concept. 그게 말이야, 일부일처제라는 개념이 참 문제가 많아. I mean, anthropologically speaking- 인류학적인 관점에서 보면-

(They all pretend to fall asleep.) 모두 잠든척 한다.

Ross: Fine. Fine, alright, now you'll never know. 알았다, 알았어. 너희는 절대 모를거야.

Monica: We're kidding. C'mon, tell us! 그냥 장난한 거야. 빨리 말해줘!

All: Yeah! C'mon! 그래~~ 어서!!

Ross: Alright. There's a theory, put forth by Richard Leakey- 좋아. 리차드 리키가 제안한 이론에 따르면-

(They all fall asleep again.) 그들 모두 다시 잠든다.

​[Scene: Monica and Rachel's, Rachel is there as all except Joey enter.]조이를 뺀 모두가 들어올때 레이첼이 집에 있다. 

Rachel: Tah-daaah! 타다!!! 

Chandler: Are we greeting each other this way now? 'Cause I like that. 우리 이제부터 이렇게 인사하지 않을래? 마음에 쏙 들거든.  

Rachel: Look! I cleaned! I did the windows, I did the floors...  이것 좀 봐! 내가 청소했어! 창문이랑, 거실바닥이랑,....  I even used all the attachments on the vacuum, except that little round one with the bristles,  진공청소기 부품을 전부 사용했다니까. 뻣뻣한 털 달린 이 동그란 것만 빼고.  I don't know what that's for. 그게 뭐에 쓰는 건지 잘 몰라서 (그게 뭘 위한건지 몰라서) 

Ross: Oh yeah, nobody knows. And we're not supposed to ask. 그래, 그건 아무도 몰라. 아무도 물어보려하지도 않고. 

Rachel: Well, whaddya think? 자, 청소해 놓으니까 어때?  

All: Very clean! It looks great! Terrific! 깨끗하다! 정말 보기 좋은데! 잘했어!  

Monica: ...Oh! I-I see you moved the green ottoman. 어! 녹색 발받침을 옮겨 놨네.  

All: Uh-oh... 어..어... 

Monica: How-how did that happen? 어, 어떻게 된 거야?  

Rachel: I dunno.. I-I thought it looked better there.  모르겠어 그게.... 저기 있는 게 더 보기 좋은 거 같아서.  And I- and also, it's an extra seat around the coffee table. 테이블 옆에 여분의 의자하나 놓은 거야.  

Monica: Yeah, yeah, it's interesting.. but y'know what?  참 재밌는 생각이구나. 근데, 있잖아?  Just for fun, let's see what it looked like in the old spot.  그냥 재미삼아서. 우리 그냥 원래 있던 자리에 한 번 옮겨보자.  

(She moves it.) Alright, just to compare. Let's see. Well, it looks good there too.  자, 비교해 볼까? 어디 보자. 와, 여기 있어도 멋있는데.  Let's just leave it there for a while. 한동안은 그냥 여기 두기로 하자.  

Phoebe: (to Rachel) I can't believe you tried to move the green ottoman. 저 녹색의자를 옮기려 하다니 다니 너두 대단하다. 

Chandler: Thank God you didn't try to fan out the magazines. I mean, she'll scratch your eyes right out. 잡지 펼쳐놓지 않은게 그나마 다행이지. 잡지 건드렸으면 당장 그걸로 눈을 할퀴었을껄.  

Monica: You guys, I am not that bad! 야, 내가 그렇게 심한 건 아니잖아!  

Phoebe: Yeah, you are, Monica. Remember when I lived with you?  아니야, 너 심해. 나랑 같이 살던 때 기억나? You were like, a little, y'know, (psycho) Ree! Ree! Ree! Ree! 너 맨날 이랬어. 알지( 약간 이상하게) 악! 악! 악! 악!  

Monica: That is so unfair! 너무 억울해!! 

Ross: Oh c'mon! When we were kids, yours was the only Raggedy Ann doll that wasn't raggedy! 자봐! 우리 어렸을 때 니가 가지고 놀던 누더기 인형이 누더기 같지 않았자너 (제일 깨끗했잖아)!  

Monica: Okay, so I'm responsible, I'm organised. But hey, I can be a kook. 그래, 책임감도있고 난 정리정돈된 걸 좋아해. 그치만 나도 괴짜가 될수있어. 

Ross: Alright, you madcap gal. Try to imagine this.  그렇군, 무모한아가씨. 그럼 이렇게 할 수 있어? The phone bill arrives, but you don't pay it right away. 전화요금 고지서가 날라 왔는데, 바로 내버리지 않고 기다리는 거야.  

Monica: Why not? 왜 그걸 안 내?  

Ross: Because you're a kook! Instead you wait until they send you a notice. 넌 괴짜니까! 독촉장 올 때까지 기다릴 수 있겠냐구.  

Monica: I could do that. 할 수도 있지, 뭐.  

Rachel: Okay, uh, you let me go grocery shopping, and I buy laundry detergent,  좋아. 그럼, 니가 나한테 물건 사오라고 시켰는데, 내가 세탁세제를 사왔어 

but it's not the one with the easy-pour spout. 내가 쉽게 따를수 없는 주둥이를 가진 세제를 사왔다면 어쩔래?  

Monica: Why would someone do that?! ...One might wonder. 도대체 누가 그런 걸 산다니?........ 라고 궁금해 할 수는 있겠지.  

Monica: But I would be fine with that.그렇지만 괜찮을거 같아. 

Chandler: Someone's left a glass on the coffee table. There's no coaster.  어떤 사람이 커피테이블위에 잔을 하나 내려놓았는데.  컵받침이 없어. It's a cold drink, it's a hot day. Little beads of condensation are inching their way closer and closer to the surface of the wood... 차가운 음료수었고 더운 날이였지. 컵표면에는 물방울이 맺히고, 한방울 한방울씩 점점 원목 테이블위로 흘러내리는 거야...  

Monica: STOP IT!! ...Oh my God. It's true! Who am I? 그만!! ....... 어머, 나 진짜 심하네. 나 왜 이러지?  

Ross: Monica? You're Mom. 모니카, 넌 꼭 엄마 닮은 거야.  

(Monica gasps.)  모니카가 헉하고 숨이 턱 막힌다.  

Phoebe: Ree! Ree! Ree! Ree! Ree! 악! 악! 악! 악!

(Joey enters and he's on the phone.) 조이가 들어오는데 전화받는중이다. 

 Joey: (on phone) Uh huh.. uh huh... oh my God! Okay! Okay, I'll be there! (He hangs up and to all.)  예, 그렇죠.... 예? 그럼요! 꼭 갈게요! (전화를 끊고 모두에게) That was my agent. (He tosses and catches the phone.) 내 매니저야. (그는 전화기를 던졌다 받는다) My agent has just gotten me a job...in the new Al Pacino movie! 내 매니져가 방금 나한테 배역 하나를 줬는데, 그게- 알파치노의 새 영화래!  

 All: Oh my God! Whoah! 우와, 대단하다! 야호!  

 Monica: Well, what's the part? 그럼 어떤 역을 맡은 거야?  

 Joey: Can you believe this? Al Pacino! This guy's the reason I became an actor!  너희들 믿겨지니? 알 파치노래! 내가 그 사람 때문에 배우가 됐는데!  "I'm out of order? Pfeeeh. You're out of order! This whole courtroom's out of order!""내가 잘못한 거라구? 흥! 잘못한건 너야!  이 법정도 몽땅 잘못된 거라구!" 

 (알파치노 영화 대사 개인기!) 

Phoebe: Seriously, what-what's the part? 그래서 배역이 뭔데?  

 Joey: "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!" "내가 나왔다고 생각하면, 바로 날 다시 쳐넣어 버리지!"  

 Ross: C'mon, seriously, Joey, what's the part? 야, 조이, 정말로 맡은 역이 뭐야?  

 Joey: ...I'm his (mumbles).....  내 역은 그의 ( 중얼거린다) 

 Rachel: ..You're, you're 'mah mah mah' what?.....  니 역은 '웅얼웅얼', 뭐라고?  

 Joey: ...I'm his butt double. 'Kay? I play Al Pacino's butt. Alright?  ..... 알 파치노 엉덩이 대역이야. 됐냐? 그 사람 엉덩이를 연기하는 거야.  He goes into the shower, and then- I'm his butt. 가 샤워하러 들어가면, 그때부턴 내 엉덩이가 나오는 거지. 

 Monica: (trying not to laugh) Oh my God. (웃지않으려고 애쓰면서) 오 이런 

 Joey: C'mon, you guys. This is a real movie, and Al Pacino's in it, and that's big! 그래도 이건 진짜 영화라구. 알 파치노가 나오는 영화 말이야 !엄청난 대작이지! 

 Chandler: Oh no, it's terrific, it's... it's... y'know, you deserve this, after all your years of struggling,  그래, 이건 정말 대단한 일이야. 그렇게 오랜동안 몸부림치더니 드디어 어런 자격을 얻었구나!you've finally been able to crack your way into showbusiness. 드디어 쇼비지니스에 비집고 들어섰구나.

[Scene: Monica and Rachel's, the next morning, Monica is getting the door.] 모니카와 레이첼의집  다음날 아침  모니카가 문쪽으로 간다. 

 Monica: Alright, alright, alright...  알았어, 알았다구. 열어줄게.  

 (Joey enters with Monica's paper and hands it to her.) 조이가 모니카의 신문을 가지고 들어와서 모니카에게 건네준다. 

 Joey: Here. I need to borrow some moisturizer. 여기 있어. 나 로션 좀 써도 될까? 

 Monica: For what? 로션은 왜?  

 Joey: Whaddya think? Today's the big day! 뭐라고 생각하는거야? 오늘이 무슨 날인지 몰라서 그래?

 Monica: He's in the bathroom. I don't think you wanna go in there! 욕실에 있어. 안 들어가는 게 좋을 텐데!  

 Chandler: C'mon, we're roommates! (He goes into the bathroom, screams, and runs back out.) 괜찮아. 우린 룸메이트 사인데, 뭘! (챈들러가 욕실안으로 들어가다 비명을 지르며 다시 나온다) My eyes!! My eyes!! 내 눈! 내 눈!  

 Monica: I warned you... 내가 경고했지?....  

 (Rachel enters from her room.) 레이첼이 방에서 나온다. 

 Rachel: Who is being loud? 누가  이렇게 시끄러워?  

 Chandler: Oh, that would be Monica. Hey, listen, I wanna borrow a coupla things,  모니카가 그랬어. 아, 근데 몇가지 좀 빌려줘라. Aurora spent the night, I really wanna make her breakfast. 오로라랑 같이 잤는데, 아침식사 좀 만들어 주게.  

 Monica: Oh, you got the whole night, huh? 오, 밤새 같이 있었나보네? 어? 

Chandler: Yeah, well, I only have twenty minutes until Ethan, so, y'know.. (He starts to raid the fridge.) 그럼, 20분 있다가 에단 만나러 간다니까 ..알다시피 ..... (챈들러가 냉장고를 급습한다.) 

 Rachel: Ooh, do I sense a little bit of resentment? 우, 약간의 화남이 느껴지는데? (근데 하나도 화 안나? )  

Chandler: No, no resentment, believe me, it's worth it.  Monica: Sure. Oh, um, Chandler? Y'know, the-the old Monica would-would remind you to scrub that Teflon pan with a plastic brush... 물론이지..어. 챈들러? 너두 알다시피 예전의 모니카라면 테프론프라이팬을 플라스틱 솔로 문지르라고 너에게 상기시켜주었겠지만... But I'm not gonna do that.  이제 그렇게 하지 않을거야.  

 (She opens the door and he leaves.) (모니카가 문을 열어주고 챈들러가 떠난다. )

[Scene: A Film Set, Joey is entering for his scene.] 조이가 자기씬을 찍기위해 들어선다. 

 Director: (on phone)...Dammit, hire the girl! (He hangs up the phone.) Okay, everybody ready? (전화에다) 젠장, 그 여자를 쓰라니까!(전화를 끊으며) 그럼, 다 준비됐나?  

 Joey: Uh, listen, I just wanna thank you for this great opportunity. 어, 있잖아요. 저한테 이런 멋진 기회를 주셔서 감사드린다는 말씀을 하고 싶습니다.  

 Director: Lose the robe. 가운 벗어.  

 Joey: Me? 저요? 

Director: That would work. 그래야 일하지. 

 Joey: Right. Okay. Losing the robe. (He takes off the robe.) And the robe is lost. 그렇죠. 벗을게요. (로브를 벗는다) 로브가 벗겨졌어요. (자, 벗었습니다. ) 

 Director: Okay, everybody, we'd like to get this in one take, please. Let's get this in one takeit..Let's roll it. water's working  자, 모두들 한번에 찍을 수 있도록 하자구. 자, 갑니다... 물 틀고.   

(The shower starts).. and... action. (샤워를 시작한다) 액션!  

(Joey starts to the shower with a grim, determined look on his face.) 조이가 얼굴에 엄숙하고 단호한 표정을 지으며 샤워를 시작한다. 

Director: And cut. Hey, Butt Guy, what the hell are you doing? 컷! 이봐, 엉덩이. 자네 지금 무슨 짓 하는 거야?   

Joey: Well, I'm- I'm showering. 저,... 샤워하는 데요.  

 Director: No, that was clenching. 아니, 그건 이악물기였어.(너무 긴장해있자나) 

Joey: Oh. Well, the way I see it, the guy's upset here,  그게 말이죠, 제가 보기엔 지금 주인공은 무척 화가 나있어요. y'know? I mean, his wife's dead, his brother's missing... I think his butt would be angry here. 부인은 죽고, 동생은 실종되고,..... 제 생각엔 그의 엉덩이도 엄청 화났을 거 같은데요.  

 Director: I think his butt would like to get this shot before lunch. 내 생각엔 그의 엉덩이도 이 장면 점심식사 전에 끝내고 싶어할 걸.  Once again, rolling... water working... and action....and cut. What was that? 다시 한 번, 기계 돌리고 물 틀고.....액션..... 컷! 그건 또 뭐야?  

 Joey: I was going for quiet desperation. But if you have to ask... 조용한 절망속으로 들어가는중이였죠. 하지만 감독님이 주문하신다면...... 

 [Scene: Chandler and Joey's, Aurora and Chandler are in bed in Chandler's room.] 

 Chandler: God, I love these fingers... 정말 사랑스러운 손가락들이에요.  

 Aurora: Thank you. 고마워요.  

 Chandler: No, actually I meant my fingers. Look at 'em, look at how happy they are. 아니, 제 손가락들 말이에요. 한 번 봐요. 얼마나 행복해 하고들 있는지.  

 Aurora: (moves Chandler's arm and look at his watch.) Oh my God, I'm late. (She starts to get up.) (챈들러의 팔을 잡고 시계를 본다)   어머, 늦었네. (일어나기 시작한다) 

 handler: Oh no nonononononnononono, don't go.. (He kisses her and pulls her back down.) 아니, 아니, 아니, 가지 말아요.... (챈들러가 키스하며 다시 잡아당긴다) 

 Aurora: Okay. 알았어요. 

 Chandler: Don't go. 가지마요 

 Aurora: Okay. Oh no, I have to. 알았어요. 안돼요. 가야 돼요.  

 Chandler: (to himself) Too bad, she's leaving. 자기자신에게) 이런. 그녀가 떠난데 

 Aurora: (getting up and dressing) I'm sorry. He'll be waiting for me. 일어나서 옷을 입으며) 미안해요. 그이가 기다리거든요.  

 Chandler: Well, I thought- I thought you talked to Rick. 전 당신이 릭한테 말하고 온 줄 알았는데요.  

 Aurora: It's not Rick. 릭 말구요.  

 Chandler: What, Ethan? He got to spend the whole day with you! 그럼 에단이요? 에단하고는 하루종일 같이 있을 거잖아요!  

 Aurora: No, it's-it's Andrew.  아니, 엔드류에요.  

Chandler: I know there'll be many moments in the years to come when I'll regret asking the following  question, but- And Andrew is? 앞으로 많은 시간동안 지금 질문을 한 것을 두고두고 후회하겠지만,... 앤드류가 누구죠? 

Aurora: He's... new. 그는..... 새로 사귄 남자에요.  

 Chandler: Oh, so what you're saying is you're not completely fulfilled by Rick, Ethan and myself? 그럼 당신은 남편이랑, 에단, 그리고 나까지 세 명으로도 만족을 못한다는 건가요?  

 Aurora: No, that's not exactly what I was.. 아니, 그런 게 아니라...  

 Chandler: Well, y'know, most women would kill for three guys like us. 대부분의 여자들은 우리 셋 같은 남자라면 좋아 죽을걸요. 

Aurora: So what do you want? 그래서 원하는 게 뭐에요?

 Chandler: I don't know, I-I have to listen to both of them, they don't exactly let each other finish... 모르겠어요. 둘 다겠죠. 그둘중 어느쪽도 상대방이 끝나게 하질 않을거예요.(아마 둘의 싸움은 끝나지 않을 겁니다. ) 

Aurora: Which one? 어느 쪽이에요?  

Chandler: ...The second guy. ....... 두 번째 놈이요.  

Aurora: (gets up to leave) Well, call me if you change your mind. (떠나려고 일어나면서) 언제든지 맘이 바뀌면 전화해요.  

(She kisses him, he holds her, and kisses her passionately.) 그녀는 챈들어에게 키스하고 첸들러는 그녀를 잡고 열정적으로 키스한다)  

Chandler: Sorry, the first guy runs the lips. 미안해요. 첫번째놈이 입술로 돌진했네요. 

 (She leaves, Chandler sighs, and falls back on his bed.) 그녀는 떠났고 챈들러가 한숨을 쉬며 다시 침대에 눕는다. 

[Scene: Monica and Rachel's, Ross is trying to comfort Chandler.  Joey is absent.] (로스는 챈들러를 위로하려고 애쓰고 조이는 없다) 

Ross: Look at it this way: you dumped her. Right? 이렇게 한 번 생각해 봐. 니가 그 여자를 차 버린 거라고. 맞지?  I mean, this woman was unbelievably sexy, and beautiful, intelligent, unattainable...  내말은 그녀는 믿을수없을 정도로 섹시하고, 아름답고, 지적이고 너가 얻을수 없는 그런여자야Tell me why you did this again? 대체 왜 그랬는지 다시 한 번 말해볼래?  

 (Joey enters.) 

 All: Hey! 헤이!

I mean, I don't even think you just get one shot.  아니. 이건 니 영화가 아니었을 거야. 니가 뭐, 평생 영화 한 편만 찍겠냐?  I really believe big things are gonna happen for you, I do!  나중에 정말 대작에 출연하는 때가 꼭 올거야. 정말이야!  You've gotta just keep thinking about the day that some kid is gonna run up to his friends and go 'I got the part! Rachel: Really? Just casually strewn about in that reckless haphazard manner? 정말? 저렇게 어수선하고 지저분하게 널려있는데도?  

 Monica: Doesn't matter, I'll get 'em tomorrow. Or not. Whenever. (She goes to her room.) 상관없어. 내일 치우지, 뭐. 아님 안 치우든가. 언제든지.  

 Ross: She is a kook. 쟤는 정말 괴짜야.

Cut to Ross and Rachel, talking next to one of the tables.)

Rachel: Oh, big glamour night. Me and Monica at Laundorama. 환상적인 밤이 될 거야! 모니카랑 나랑 빨래방에 가거든 

Ross: Oh, you uh, you wanna hear a freaky coincidence?  기가 막힌 우연의 일치라고 들어는 봤니?  Guess who's doing laundry there too? 거기에 또 누가 가는지 알아?  

Rachel: Who?누군데? 

Ross: Me. Was that not clear?  나! 확실하지않아? ( 우연이 맞지?) Hey, why don't, um, why don't I just join you both, here? 저기.. 음.. 나도 너희랑 같이 해도 될까?  

Rachel: Don't you have a laundry room in your building? 너네 건물엔 빨래방 없니?

[Scene: Monica and Rachel's apartment, Joey is there, trying to convince Monica to pose as his girlfriend. His plan is to hook Monica up with Angela's boyfriend Bob and then take Angela back for himself.] 조이가 모니카에게 자기 여자 친구 인체 해달라고 설득하고 있다.조이의 계획은 모니카를 안젤라의 남자 친구 밥에게 소개해서 안젤라를 되찾고자 하는 것이었다.

Joey: Eww! Look, I'm asking a favor here. If I do this for her brother, 야, 내 부탁 좀 들어주라! 내가 그녀의 오빠를 위해 이일을 하면 (네가 밥하고 잘 되면) maybe Angela will come back to me. 안젤라가 나한테 돌아올지도 몰라

Monica: What's going on here? You go out with tons of girls. 대체 왜 그러는데? 넌 몇 트럭이나 되는 여자들이랑 데이트하잖아!

Joey: (proud) I know, but, I made a huge mistake. 그건 그렇지. 하지만 난 큰 실수를 저지른 거야 I never should have broken up with her. 그녀와 깨지는 게 아녔다고Will you help me? Please? 제발 좀 도와주라, 응?

[Scene: Ross' apartment, Chandler is over.]

Ross: (on phone) Ok, bye. (hangs up) Well, Monica's not coming, 그래, 안녕. 모니카는 안 온대. it's just gonna be me and Rachel. 나랑 레이철 둘 뿐이야

Chandler: Oh. Well, hold on, camper, are you sure you've thought this thing through? 잠깐만. 야, 너 이거 충분히 생각한 거야?

Ross: It's laundry. The thinking through is minimal. 기껏해야 빨래하는 거야! 충분히 생각할 게 없어.

Chandler: It's just you and Rachel, just the two of you? This is a date. You're going on a date. 너랑

Ross: Nuh-uh. 아니야아~

Chandler: Yuh-huh. 맞어야아~

Ross: So what're you saying here? I should shave again, pick up some wine, what? 그럼 어떻게 할까? 면도도 다시 하고 와인도 가져갈까?

Chandler: Well, you may wanna rethink the dirty underwear. 너 더러운 속옷부터 다시 생각해봐라. (네 꼬질꼬질한 속옷이나 좀 어떻게 해라) This is basically the first time she's gonna see your underwear—you want it to be dirty? 레이철이 처음으로 보게 될 네 속옷인데 더러웠으면 좋겠니?

Ross: (sheepish) No. (당황해하며) 아니.

Chandler: Oh, and uh, the fabric softener? 어, 그리고 섬유유연제?

[Scene: A fancy restaurant, Joey and Monica are there, meeting Angela and Bob, who Monica thinks is Angela's brother.]

Monica: Thank you. So what does this Bob guy look like? Is he tall? Short? 그 밥이란 사람은 어떻게 생겼니? 키는 커? 아님 작아?

Joey: Yep. 그래

Monica: Which? 어느쪽이라는거야?

Joey: Which what? 뭐가 어느 쪽?

Monica: You've never met Bob, have you? 너 한 번도 밥을 만난 적 없지, 그렇지?

Joey: No, but he's... 없어.. 그렇지만 그는...

Monica: Oh my god, Joey, for all we know this guy could be horribly... 이런, 조이! 그 사람 잘은 몰라도 끔찍하게... I haven't talked to Marie in weeks, so, for all I know, she's not even coming to the dinner party tonight. 내가 몇 주 동안 마리아하고 대화 못해봤어. 그래서 잘은 모르겠지만 그녀가 오늘 밤 디너파티에 오지 않을 것 같아.

(Angela and Bob walk in. Bob is good-looking.) 안젤라와 밥이 들어온다. 밥이 잘생겼다.

Angela: Hey, Joey. 안녕, 조이

Monica:... horribly끔찍할 정도로 매력적이네.. 나 이제 입 다물고 있을게

[Scene: Central Perk, Chandler and Phoebe are there, both ready to break up with their significant others.] 챈들러와 피비가 거기에 있는데 둘 다 그들의 의미 있던 누구가와 헤어질 준비를 하고 있다.

Chandler: Where are they? Where are they? 그들이 어디 있지? ( 왜 안 오지?)

Phoebe: This is nice. We never do anything just the two of us. 이거 괜찮다. 우리 둘이서 뭔가 해본 적 없었잖아.

Chandler: It's great. Maybe tomorrow we can rent a car and run over some puppies. 그거 멋지군. 내일 어쩜 우린 차를 빌려 강아지를 몇 마리쯤 치어 죽일지도 몰라

Phoebe: Eww, I don't wanna do that. 으.. 그러긴 싫어!

(Janice and Phoebe's boyfriend, Tony, walk in.)

Chandler: Here we go. 드디어 시작이다

Phoebe: Ok, have a good break-up. 좋아, 잘 헤어져야 돼!

Chandler: Hey, Janice. 안녕, 재니스

Janice: Oh, my god, I am so glad you called me. I had the most supremely awful day. 나한테 전화해 줘서 너무 고마웠어. 오늘 아주 지독한 날이었거든

Chandler: Hey, that's not good. Can I get an espresso and a latte over here, please? 저런, 안됐구나. 여기 에스프레소랑 라테 한잔씩 갖다 주실래요?

Janice: We got the proofs back from that photo shoot, you know, the one with the little vegetables. 그 사진 촬영 교정본을 받았어. 왜 그 작은 야채들 가지고 찍은 거 말이야.Anyway, they pretty much sucked, so, I blew off the rest of the day, 어쨌거나 그 사진들 형편없더라고. 그래서 하루의 나머지 일과를 다 날리고 and I went shopping...(looks through her bags)... and I got you, I'm looking, I'm looking, I'm looking, I got you.. 쇼핑을 갔다가, (가방을 뒤지면서) 내가 너 주려고 지금 찾고있어 찾고있어 내가 너주려고

(Chandler sees Phoebe breaking up with Tony. She talks to him for a few seconds, hugs him, and then he leaves. Chandler is amazed how easy it was for her.) 챈들러는 피비가 토니랑 헤어지는 걸 지켜본다. 피비가 토니에게 잠시 동안 이야기하고 껴안고 토니가 떠난다. 챈들러는 헤어지는 일이 피비에게 그렇게 쉽다는 것에 놀란다.

Chandler: What? 뭐야?

Janice: What? 뭐가?

Chandler: (covering) What... did you get me there? (숨기면서) 아니 네가 날 위해 산 게 뭐야?

Janice: I got you... these. (pulls out a pair of socks) 어, 이걸 샀어

Chandler: Bullwinkle socks. That's so sweet. Bullwinkle 양말이구나, 이쁜데!

Janice: Well, I knew you had the Rockys, and so I figured, you know, you can wear Bullwinkle and Bullwinkle, 너한테 Rocky가 있다는 건 알고 있어. 내 생각엔 Bullwinkle 은 Bullwinkle끼리 신어도 되고 or you can wear Rocky and Rocky, or, you can mix and match, moose and squirrel. Whatever you want. 아니면 Rocky는 Rocky끼리, 그게 싫으면 이것저것 섞어서 신든지 사슴과 다람쥐 말이야.니 맘대로 해!

Chandler: That's great. 멋지다.

(The drinks arrive, and Chandler downs his espresso in one gulp.) 음료가 도착하고 챈들러가 에스프레소를 한 모금 꿀꺽한다.

Chandler: Well, I'm gonna get another espresso. Can I get you another latte? 어, 난 에스프레소 한잔 더 마실래 너도 라테 한잔 더 줄까?

Janice: (holding the full cup) No, no, I'm still working on mine. 아니 아니.. 나 아직 내 것 마시고 있어.

(Chandler walks over to the counter where Phoebe is, and is asking her about the break-up.) 챈들러는 피비가 있는 카운터로 간서 이별에 대해 물어본다.

Chandler: That's it? 그게 다야? (그걸로 끝난 거야?)

Phoebe: Yeah, it was really hard. 그래, 정말 힘들었어

Chandler: Oh, yeah, that hug looked pretty brutal. 아.. 그래. 포옹이 엄청 잔인해 보이더라.

Phoebe: Ok, you weren't there. 좋아. 너 거기 있지도 않았잖아. ( 알지도 못하면서 왜 아는 척이냐는 투)

Chandler: sorry. 미안.

Phoebe: How's it going with Janice? 재니스와 어찌 되어가?

Chandler: Going? Things aren't going! She got me a socks ( show them to her) 어떠냐고? 상황이 잘 되어가지 않아. 그녀가 나에게 양말을 사줬어.

Phoebe: Oh, these go with your Rocky's! She must really care about you. ( he looks at her) I'm sorry. 오... 이거 너의 로키 양말이랑 잘 어울리겠어. 재니스가 너 엄청 신경 쓰는구나.그녀가 정말로 너를 좋아하는 게 틀림없어. ( 챈들러가 피비를 쳐다본다) 미안해.

Scene: The Launderama, Rachel is there, waiting for Ross. An old woman takes Rachel's clothes off the machine and begins loading it with her things.] 세탁실. 레이철이 로스를 기다리며 거기에 있다.  아줌마 한분이 세탁기에서 레이철의 옷을 치우고 자신의 것을 넣기 시작한다.  

Woman: Comin' through. Move, move. 좀 지나갑시다, 비키세요!   

Rachel: Oh, 'scuse me. I was kinda using that machine. 아, 죄송하지만 그 기계는 제가 쓰려고 한 건데요   

Woman: Yeah, well, now you're kinda not. 하지만 지금은 안 쓰고 있잖아요! 

 Rachel: But I saved it. I put my basket on top. 하지만 찜 해 논거예요. 위에. 올려놓은 바구니 못 보셨나요?  

 Woman: Oh, I'm sorry, is that your basket? 아, 미안해요. 이거 당신 바 구닌 가요? It's really pretty. Unfortunately, I don't see suds. 바구니가 참 이쁘네요. 하지만 거품이 안 묻어 있잖아요! 

Rachel: What?  뭐라구요? 

 Woman: No suds, no save. Ok? 거품이 없으면 찜은 무효라고요, 알아 들어요?  

(Ross arrives.) 

Ross: What's goin' on? 무슨 일이야? 

 Rachel: Hi, uh, nothing. That horrible woman just took my machine. 어, 아무 일도 아냐 저 무시무시한 아줌마가 내 기계를 가로챘어  

 Ross: Was your basket on top? 바구니 안 올려놨어?  

Rachel: Yeah, but, there were no suds. 그래, 하지만 거품이 안 묻어 있었거든  

 Ross: So? 그래서? 

 Rachel: Well, you know, no suds, no save. 너도 알잖아. 거품이 안 묻어 있으면 말짱 꽝인 거  

 Ross: No suds? Excuse me, hold on a second. (to woman) That's my friend's machine. 거품이 뭐? 이런, 잠깐만요! 그건 내 친구가 쓰려던 세탁기인데요!  

 Woman: Hey, hey, hey, her stuff wasn't in it. 이봐, 이봐, 이봐! 그 안엔 아무것도 안 들어 있었다고!  

 Ross: Hey, hey, hey, that's not the rule and you know it.  이봐, 이봐, 이봐! 그런 규칙이 없다는 건 당신도 잘 알 텐데!  

(The woman and Ross stare at each other. Finally she takes her stuff out of the machine and leaves.) 아줌마와 로스가 서로를 쳐다본다.  마침내 그녀가 자신의 물건을 세탁기에서 꺼내고 떠난다.  

Ross: (to the crowd in the laundromat) All right, show's over.  (세탁실에 있는 사람들에게)  자, 쇼는 끝났습니다!  Nothing to see here. (to Rachel) Ok, let's do laundry. 이제 구경거리는 없답니다. 자, 이제 빨래나 하자   

Rachel: That was amazing. I can't even send back soup. 놀라운걸! 난 대꾸도 못했을 텐데   

Ross: Well, that's because you're such a sweet, gentle, uh.. 왜냐하면 그건 네가 귀엽고, 점잖고, 어...  Do you, uh, do you... Oh, hey, uh you must need detergent. 어, 세제가 필요한 건 알고 있지? 

 (Ross pulls out a huge box of laundry detergent.) 

 Rachel: What's that? 그건 뭐야

Ross: Uberveiss. It's new, it's German, it's extra-tough. 

  (Rachel starts to load her clothes.) 

 Ross: Rach, do you uh, are you gonna separate those? 레이철, 너 그거 따로따로 집어넣을 거지?  

 Rachel: Oh god. Oh, am I being like a total laundry spaz?  이런, 나 완전 빨래방 촌년 돼버렸네!  I mean, am I supposed to use like one machine for shirts and another machine for pants?  음.. 내가 셔츠는 이 기계에 팬츠는 다른 기계에 넣어야 하는 거지? 

Ross: Rach, have you never done this before? 한 번도 빨래해 본 적이 없는 거니?  

Rachel: Well, not myself, but I know other people that have.  내 혼자서는 해본 적 없지만 다른 사람들이 하는 건 알아. (봐서 알아) Ok, you caught me. I'm a laundry virgin. 그래, 네 말이 맞아. 난 빨래방 초짜야  

Ross: Uh, well, don't worry, I'll use the gentle cycle.  어, 걱정하지 마.내가 약한 세탁 모드를 사용할 거야. Ok, um, basically you wanna use one machine for all your whites, 어, 기본적으로 흰색옷은 한 군데 몰아넣어야 돼  a whole another machine for colors,  다른 하나엔 색깔 있는 것들...  and a third for your uh, your uh, delicates, and that would be your bras and your under-panty things. 그리고 세 번째 기계에는 네... 좀 민감한 것들, 뭐 브래지어나 팬티 같은 거 말이지  

Rachel: (holds a pair of panties in front of Ross)  로스 앞에서 팬티를 들고 있다. Ok, Well, what about these are white cotton panties. Would they go with whites or delicates? 그럼 이 흰색 면 팬티는 어떻게 하지?  흰색 쪽에? 아니면 민감한 쪽에 포함돼?  

Ross: (visibly nervous) Uh, that, that, that would be a judgment call. (눈 에띠 게 긴장하며) 어, 그건 선택하기 좀 어렵겠는걸(논란이 여지가 있을 거 같은데)?? 

Scene: Fancy restaurant, Monica, Joey, Angela, and Bob are seated at the table.]

Monica: (to Joey) He is so cute. (to Angela and Bob) So, where did you guys grow up? (조이에게) 저 사람 너무 귀엽다! 두 분은 어디서 자라셨나요?  

Angela: Brooklyn Heights. 브루클린 하이츠요 

Bob: Cleveland. 클리블랜드요 

Monica: How, how did that happen? 어떻게 그런 일이? 

Joey: Oh my god. 맙소사!맙소사! 

Monica: What?  왜 그래?  

Joey: I suddenly had the feeling that I was falling. But I'm not. 갑자기 벼랑으로 떨어지는 느낌이야! 기분이 그렇다 이거지 뭐

[Scene: Fancy restaurant, Joey and Bob are talking.] 

Joey: So, you and Angela, huh? 그래서.. 당신과 안젤라... 어? 

Bob: Yep. Pretty much. 네, 그래요  

Joey: You're a lucky man. You know what I miss the most about her?  당신은 운 좋은 줄 아슈. 안젤라한테서 가장 잊히지 않는 게 뭔지 알아요? That cute nibbly noise when she eats. Like a happy little squirrel, or a weasel. 그녀가 먹을 때 내는 귀여운 소리요. 행복한 다람쥐처럼요. 아니면 족제비 같기도 하고  

Bob: Huh, I never really noticed. 어, 전혀 몰랐는데요. 

Joey: Oh, yeah, yeah, listen for it. 잘 들어보세요.  

Bob: Monica, Monica is great. 모니카, 모니카는 굉장해요  

Joey: Yeah, but it's not gonna last. She's too much for me in bed. Sexually. 네, 하지만 오래 가진 않을 거 같군요 침대에서 날 너무 힘들게 하거든요. 너무 밝힌단 얘기죠 

[Scene: The ladies' bathroom at the restaurant, Monica and Angela are talking.] 

Monica: I've gotta tell you, Bob is terrific. 밥은 끝내주는 남자인 거 같아요  

Angela: Yeah, isn't he? 왜 아니겠어요!  

 Monica: It is so great to meet a guy who is smart and funny, and has an emotional age beyond, like eight. 똑똑하고 재밌는 데다  8살 이상의 성숙한 감성을 가진 사람과 만나다니...  

Angela: You know what else? He's unbelievable in bed. 그것 말고도 밥은 잠자리에서 끝내 준다니까요!  

Monica: Wow. My brother never even told me when he lost his virginity. 우와! 우리 오빠는 첫 경험 얘기조차 나한테 안 해주던데!  

Angela: Huh. That's nice. 어, 그랬군요 

[Scene: Central Perk, Phoebe is coaching Chandler on how to break up with Janice.] 피비가 챈들러에게 제니스와 헤어지는 법을 가르쳐주고 있다. 

Phoebe: Ok, you can do this. It's just like pulling off a Band-aid. Just do it really fast, and then the wound is exposed. 넌 할 수 있어. 이건 그냥 반창고를 떼는 거랑 똑같아 잽싸게 잡아떼면 상처가 드러나겠지!  

(Chandler walks back to couch, where Janice is.) 

Chandler: Janice. Hi, Janice. Ok, here we go. I don't think we should go out anymore. Janice. 재니스! 안녕, 재니스! 그래, 우린 더 이상 안 만나는 게 좋을 것 같아!  

Janice: All right. Well, there you go. (she gets extremely wound up, and begins to try and calm herself down)  그래. 알았어. (그녀가 심하게 상처 받은 받았다. 스스로를 진정시키기 시작한다) Stop it, stop it, stop it. 진정해, 진정해, 진정해... 

[Scene: The laundromat.] 

Rachel: Ok, I know this is gonna sound really stupid, but I feel that if I can do this, you know,  멍청하게 들린다는 거 알고 있지만 내가 빨래도 할 수 있다면  if I can actually do my own laundry, there isn't anything I can't do. 내가 실제로 내 빨래를 스스로 할 수 있다면 딴 건 뭘 못하겠니!  

Ross: That does not sound stupid to me.로  멍청한 소리로 안 들리는걸?  You know, it's like the first time I had to make dinner for myself, after Carol left me?  이건 캐럴이 날 떠났을 때 처음으로 저녁을 내 손으로 지어먹던 거랑 똑같은 경우야!  

(the buzzer on the washer goes off) I'm sorry, that's all the time we have. Next on Ross...(opens up the washer) Uh-oh. (세탁기의 버저가 울린다.) 아, 미안. 시간이 다 됐다. 로스의 다음 편을....  (세탁기를 연다) 어오!! 

Rachel: What uh-oh? 뭐가 어오야?

Monica: Something went wrong with Underdog, and they couldn't get his head to inflate.  Underdog한테 무슨 문제가 생겼어요 그래서 그 머리가 부풀어 오르게 할 수 없어서,  So anyway, um, his head is like flopping down Broadway, right, and I'm just thinking...  어쨌거나, 그의 머리가 브로드웨이에 곤두박질치게 생겼죠. 그래서 저는 생각했어요  how inappropriate this is. Joey: Oh, like you've never gotten a little rambunctious with Ross. 넌 로스 하고절대 야단법석 떠들썩하게 지내본 적이 없는 것처럼 그러냐.(너도 . 로스 하고 친밀하게 지내면서 멀 그래 이런 의미인듯해요) 

Monica: Joey, this is sick, it's disgusting, it's, it's—not really true, is it? 조이, 이건 아냐.  이건 너무 역겨워. 이건... 사실이 아니구나, 그렇지?  

Joey: Well, who's to say what's true? I mean... 글쎄, 뭐가 진실이라고 누가 말할 수 있겠니? (아무도 몰라. 거짓이라는 의미) 내 말은.. 

Monica: Oh my god, what were you thinking? 대체 무슨 생각을 한 거였어?

Monica: (hits him lightly) Oh!  조이를 가볍게 치며.. 오!

Monica: (leaving) I'm outta here. 나 여기서 나갈래.

Joey: Wait, wait, wait. You want him, I want her. He likes you. 잠깐, 잠깐! 넌 저 남잘 원하고 난 그녈 원해! 게다가 저 사람은 널 좋아하고 있다고!

[Scene: Central Perk, Chandler is still trying to ease things over with Janice, and there are about a dozen empty Espresso cups in front of him. He is extremely wired.]

Chandler: (to Phoebe) I hit her in the eye! I hit her in the eye! This is the worst break-up in the history of the world.  내가 그녀 눈을 때렸어! 내가 눈을 쳤다고! 이건 사상 최악의 이별이 될 거야!  

Phoebe: Oh my god. (Chandler downs another espresso.) How many of those have you had? 이런, 세상에    너 대체 얼마나 마신 거니?  

Chandler: Oh, I don't know, a million? 글쎄, 한 백만 잔?  

Phoebe: Chandler, easy, easy. Go to your happy place. La la la la la la la. 챈들러, 진정해 행복했던 순간을 떠올려 봐 랄랄 랄랄랄라라~...  

Chandler: I'm fine. 난 괜찮아 

Phoebe: All right.  알았어  

(Janice returns from the bathroom.) 

Chandler: I'm not fine. Here she comes. 나 안 괜찮아! 저기 오고 있다고!

(Phoebe goes over to speak to Janice. She talks to her for a few seconds, and then Janice immediately smiles, hugs her, waves to Chandler, and leaves.) 피비가 재니스에게 말을 걸려고 다가간다. 피비가 재니스와 짬깐동안 이야기하니 곧장 재니스가 웃으며 피비를 껴안고 챈들러에게 손 흔들어 작별하고 떠난다.

[Scene: The Launderama. Rachel is sorting her now-pink clothes.] 세탁실.  레이쳉이 자신의 이제는 핑크색이 되어버린 옷을 정리하고 있다. 

Ross: You got the clothes clean. Now that's the important part. 어쨌건 세탁은 됐잖아   그게 중요한 점이라고  

Rachel: Oh, I guess. Except everything looks like jammies now. 그래, 모두 잠옷처럼 보인다는 것만 빼면  

(The same woman walks over and takes Rachel's laundry cart.) 시비 걸던 바로 그 여성이 다가와서 레이철의 카트를 가져간다. 

Rachel: Whoa, I'm sorry. Excuse me. We had this cart. 아, 죄송한데 이건 제가 쓸 거예요  

Woman: Yeah, well, I had a 24-inch waist. You lose things.  나도 예전엔 24인치 허리를 가졌었다고. 너도 그런 것들을 잃게 될 거야. (뚱뚱해질 거아) Now come on, get outta my way. 자, 이제 비키시지  

(Rachel looks at Ross, who motions to her to get the cart back.) 레이철이 로스를 쳐다본다.  로스가 카트를 다시 가져오라는 몸짓을 한다. 

Rachel: I'm sorry, you know, maybe I wasn't being clear. Uh, this is our cart. 미안해요.  저기, 내가 아마 제대로 말하지 않을 거 같네요. 어. 이거 우리 카트예요. 

Woman: Hey, hey, hey there aren't any clothes in it. 이봐, 이봐, 이봐! 안에 아무것도 없잖아  

Rachel: Hey, hey, hey, hey, quit making up rules! 이봐, 이봐, 이봐! 그딴 규칙 같은 거 다 필요 없어요!  

Woman: Let go! 비켜! 

(They struggle for the cart. Finally, Rachel climbs inside of it.) 그들이 카트를 놓고 다툰다. 레이철이 카트 안으로 올라탄다. 

Rachel: All right, listen, missy. If you want this cart, you're gonna have to take me with it!  좋아, 아줌마. 만약 이 카트가 필요하면 나도 같이 데려가라고!  

(She thinks it over, and then walks away.) 그녀가 끝내자고 생각하고 가버린다. 

Rachel: (to Ross) Yes! Did you see that? 이야! 너 봤니?  

Ross: You were incredible! Brand new woman, ladies and gentlemen. 믿을 수가 없는데!  여러분, 새로운 여인의 탄생입니다!  

Rachel: I could not have done this without you. 모든 게 다 네 덕분이야  

(Rachel stands up and kisses Ross. He is stunned. A moment of silence follows.) 레이철이 일어서서 로스에게 키스한다.  로스가 멍해졌다.  침묵이 흐른다. 

Ross: Ok, um, uh, more clothes in the dryer? (Ross turns and bangs his head on an open dryer door.) I'm fine, I'm fine. 아, 어... 건조기에 옷 더 넣어야지? (로스가 몸을 돌리다 머리를 열린 건조기에 부딪친다.)부딪친다.) 난 괜찮아, 괜찮아! 

Rachel: Are you sure? 정말로 괜찮아?

Joey: Hey, that woman's got an ass like Carol's! (They turn to stare at him.) 이봐, 저 여자 엉덩이 꼭 캐럴 같아! (그들이 몸을 돌려 조이를 째려본다)

What? Thought we were trying to find stuff. ( 의미적으로 비슷한 거 찾기 놀이) 우리가 그런 얘기 하던 거라고 생각했는데?

[Scene: Central Perk, Rachel, Lesile, Kiki, and Joanne are talking.]

Rachel: So c'mon, you guys, tell me all the dirt! 빨리, 얘들아, 자질 구제한 거 까지 다 얘기해 줘!

Kiki: Well, the biggest news is still you dumping Barry at the altar! 글쎄, 아직도 가장 큰 뉴스는 네가 배리를 결혼 식장에서 찬 거야!

Joanne: Alright. Let's talk reality for a second. 좋아. 우리 이제 현실적인 얘기를 좀 하자

Rachel: Okay.

[Scene: Monica and Rachel's, Phoebe and Monica are in pajamas and Monica is making something in the blender as Rachel enters.]

Monica: Hey, Rach. How was it with your friends? 레이철, 친구랑은 잘 놀다 왔어?

(She and Phoebe scream.) Okay! How would you like some Tiki Death Punch? 좋아! 티키 강펀치 한번 마셔 볼래?

(She pours the contents of the blender into some glasses.)

Rachel: What's that? 뭐 들어간 건데?

Monica: Weeeell, it's rum, and- 어, 럼주랑...

Rachel: Okay. (Grabs the blender and starts to drink.) 딱 좋아!

Monica: We thought since Phoebe was staying over tonight we'd have kinda like a slumber party thing. 오늘 밤 여기서 잘 거니까파자마 파티 같은 걸 해볼까 해서

We got some trashy magazines, we got cookie dough, we got Twister... 피비가 싸구려 잡지들도 있고, 쿠키 반죽도 있고 트위스터도 있다고

(The phone rings and Monica answers it.)

Phoebe: Ooh! Ooh! And I brought Operation! But, um, I lost the tweezers, so we can't operate. '수술 놀이'를 가지고 왔는데 핀셋이 없어서 수술은 할 수 없겠다

But we can prep the guy! 하지만 남자 환자는 준비할 수 있어!

Monica: Uh, Rach, it's the Visa card people. 레이철, 비자 카드라는데?

Rachel: Oh, God, ask them what they want. 뭘 원하는지 물어봐줘. (무슨 일이냐고 좀 물어봐 줘)

Monica: (on phone) Could you please tell me what this is in reference to? 뭐와 관련된 거 때문인지 말씀해주시겠어요? (무슨 일 때문에 그러시죠? )

(Listens) Yes, hold on. 네, 잠시만요.

(To Rachel) Um, they say there's been some unusual activity on your account. 이 사람 말이 네 계좌에 좀 뭔가 이상한 점이 있나 봐

Monica: (pauses then on the phone) Uh- Rachel has left the building, can you call back? 어, 레이철이 지금 막 나갔는데요 나중에 전화해 주시겠어요?

Rachel: Alright, c'mon! (Miserably) Let's play Twister! 좋아, 이리 와! 트위스터나 하자!

[Scene: Madison Square Garden, the guys are trying to find their seats.]

Ross: (squeezing past people) Sorry, sorry... Uh-oh.

Chandler: What? There was ice there that night with Carol? Plastic seats? 뭐야? 캐럴과의 그날 밤에 얼음도 있었어?

Four thousand angry Pittsburgh fans? 아님 플라스틱 의자? 4천 명의 성난 피츠버그 팬들?

Ross: No, actually I was just saying it looks like we're not sitting together. 아니, 우리가 함께 앉지 못할 것 같아서

But now you mention it, there was ice there that night... It was the first frost... 네가 그 말하니까 생각난 건데 그날 밤에 얼음이 있었어 첫서리가 내렸거든

Joey: C'mon, sit. Just sit down, sit. 야, 그냥 앉자!

​[Scene: Monica and Rachel's, they're all hanging out in the living room.]

Monica: You should feel great about yourself! 너 자신에자부심을 가져!  

You're doing this amazing independence thing!  넌 '독립'이란 생활을 하고 있으니까!  

Rachel: Monica, what is so amazing?  모니카, 뭐가 놀라운데?   

I gave up, like, everything. And for what?  난 포기했어, 다른 것들과 마찬가지로. 그런데 뭘 위해서? 

Phoebe: You are just like Jack.      넌 마치 '잭'같아  

Rachel:... Jack  아래층에 사는 잭?  

Phoebe: No, Jack and the Beanstalk.  아니, '잭과 콩나무'의 잭  

Monica: Ah, the other Jack.    아, 그 잭!  

Phoebe: Yeah, right! See, he gave up something,  그래! 처음에 잭도 뭔가를 포기했지만 

but then he got those magic beans. And then he woke up,  대신 그 마술 콩들을 얻었잖아       그리고 잠에서 깨어보니 

and there was this, this big plant outside his window, full of possibilities and stuff..  이렇게 창문 밖에 무한한 가능성이 가득 찬 커다란 나무가 자라 있었고. 

And he lived in a village, and you live in the Village..  그리고 잭도 어느 동네에 살았고.너도 the village에 살고 있고...  

Rachel: Okay, but Pheebs, Pheebs, Jack gave up a cow, I gave up an orthodontist. 좋아, 하지만 피비. 잭은 소를 포기했지만, 난 치과교정전문의를 포기했지  

Okay, I-I-I know, I know I didn't love him-  그래, 난 내가 그를 사랑하지 않았다는 건 알아  

Phoebe: Oh, see, Jack did love the cow.  오, 그래? 잭은 그 소를 사랑했지  

Rachel: But see, it was a plan. Y'know, it was clear.  하지만, 그건 계획이었어.       명백했지 

It was figured out, and now everything's just kinda like.. 확실히 밝혀지고        하지만 이젠 모든 게 마치...  

Phoebe: Floopy?  뒤죽 박 죽이라고? 

Rachel: Yeah. 그래  

Monica: So what, you're not the only one.  그래서? 하지만 너만 그런 게 아냐  

I mean, half the time we don't know where we're going. 사실 우리들도 대부분은 어디로 가는 줄도 모르고 가고 있다고  

you've just gotta figure at some point it's all gonna come together,  넌 그냥 어느 지점에서 이 모든 것을 하나로 제대로 합 cl고(분명해지고) 

and it's just gonna be... un-floopy.  그럼 안 뒤죽박죽 될 거야  

Phoebe: Oh, like that's a word.         오! 그건 뭔가 단어 같은데!! (unfloopy란 단어가 없는데 모니카가 만들어내서) 

Rachel: Okay, but Monica, what if- what if it doesn't come together?  좋아. 하지만 모니카 만약 하나로 합칠 수가 없다면(분명해지지 않으면)?  

Monica:... Pheebs? 피비?  

Phoebe: Oh, well... 'cause.... you just... I don't like this question.  아, 글쎄... 저기 난 이 질문 맘에 안 들어  

Rachel: Okay, see, see, you guys, what if we don't get magic beans?  좋아, 그럼. 만약에 우리가 가진 게 마술 콩이 아니면 어쩌지?  

I mean, what if all we've got are.. beans?  그러니까 만약 우리가 가진 게... 그냥 콩이면? 

[Scene: Madison Square Garden, the guys are watching the game.] 

Ross: Get him! GET HIM! Get him! Get- YESSS! Not laughing now, are ya pal!   잡아! 잡으라고! 잡아! 그래 됐어!!      웃을 때가 아냐, 이 친구야!  

Chandler: (to Ross) See buddy, 이봐 친구, 

that's all you need, a bunch of toothless guys hitting each other with sticks.  너에게 필요한 건 역시 이빨이 부러진 채 스틱을 휘두르는 녀석들이야  

Ross: Pass it! Pass it!  패스해! 패스!  

Chandler: He's open!  저기가 뚫렸어!  

All: Shoot! Shoot! Shoot! 슛! 슛! 슛!  

(The player shoots and the puck flies off the rink and hits Ross in the face.  선수가 슛을 쌌고 폭이 링크에서 벗어나 로스의 얼굴을 친다. Chandler looks concered until he notices...)  챈들러가 자기들이 티브이에 나오는 걸 알아차리기 전까지는 걱정스러운 표정..... 

Chandler: Hey, look, we're on that TV thing!  어, 저 거봐! 우리가 티브이에 나오네? 

(Chandler and Joey hold the puck and wave at the TV thing.)

[Scene: An Emergency Room, Chandler and Joey are leading Ross in.] 

Chandler: (to the receptionist)'Scuse me.   저기요.. 

Receptionist: (holds up her hand—she is on the phone) 

It says to call this number if you're not completely satisfied with this candy bar. 여기요여기요 여기에 사탕이 맘에 안 들면 그리로 전화하라고 쓰여 있더군요  

Well, I'm not completely satisfied.  글쎄, 저는 맘에 안 들더라고요  

Well, the label promises nutty goodness. 글쎄 라벨에서 견과류 맛을 약속했다고요 ( 견과류 맛이 난다고 쓰여있었다고요!!) 

Chandler: Listen, it's kind of an emergency.  이봐요, 여기 응급상황이란 말이에요  

Well, I guess you know that,  당신이 그걸 알고 있다고 생각하는데.. 

or we'd be in the predicament room. (The receptionist glares at him.)  응급상황이 아니라면 우린 지금쯤 곤경의방(처치실정도)곤경의 방(처치실 정도)에 앉아 있을 거요  

Receptionist: (on phone) Hold on. (To Chandler) Fill these out, sit over there.  잠깐만요...       이거 작성하고 저기 앉아 있어요.  

(Tosses him some forms.)  

Ross: (jumping to his feet) Look, I don't wanna make any trouble,   잠깐만요, 전 소란 피울 생각은 없지만
  

okay, but I'm in a lot of pain here, alright? My face is dented.  정말 아프다고요. 네? 내 얼굴이 움푹 파였다고요!  

Receptionist: Well, you'll have to wait your turn. 글쎄, 차례를 기다려야만 해요  

Joey: Well, how long do you think it'll be?  얼마나 걸릴까요?  

Receptionist: (sarcastic) Any minute now. 당장이라도 (금방이면 돼요 ) 

Ross: Hey, this- (she gives him a look and the guys back off) Heyy...  이봐요, 여긴...

[Scene: Monica and Rachel's, the slumber party continues.]

Rachel: I'm so sorry, you guys. I didn't mean to bring you down. 미안해 얘들아 너희들 기분까지 망치게 할 생각은 아니었는데.

Monica: No, you were right. I don't have a plan. (There's a knock on the door.) 아냐, 네 말이 맞아. 난 아무런 계획도 없어

Pizza Guy: (yelling from outside) Pizza guy! 피자요!

Rachel: Thank God. Food. (She goes to answer the door.) 오, 감사합니다. 먹을 거다.

Monica: Phoebe? 피비?

Phoebe: What? 왜?

Monica: Do you have a plan? 넌 무슨 계획 같은 거 있니?

Phoebe: I don't even have a 'pl'. 난 계획의 '계'자도 없어.

Pizza Guy: Hi, one, uh, mushroom, green pepper and onion? 안녕하세요! 버섯, 그린 페퍼, 양파 토핑 맞죠?

Rachel: (miserably) No, no, that's not what we ordered... 아뇨, 아니요. 그건 우리 것이 아니에요

We ordered a fat-free crust with extra cheese. 우리는 덤으로 치즈가 있는 지방을 뺀 피자를 주문했다고요

Pizza Guy: Wait, you're not 'G.Stephanopoulos?' Man, my dad's gonna kill me! 그럼 당신이 'G. Stephanopoulos'씨가 아니란 말이에요? 난 이제 아빠한테 죽었다!

Monica: (leaping off of the couch and runs up) Wait! Did you say 'G.Stephanopoulos?' 잠깐만! 지금 'G. Stephanopoulos'라고 했어요?

Pizza Guy: Yeah. This one goes across the street, I must have given him yours. 네, 저 건너편 집으로 갔어야 했는데! 아마 그 집에 여기 피자를 가져다준 게 틀림없어요.

Oh, bonehead, bonehead! 이런 꼴통을 봤나!

Monica: Wait, was this a-a small mediterranean guy with curiously intelligent good looks? 혹시 그 사람 키 작고 지중해 쪽의 아주 머리 좋게 생긴 사람이던가요?

Pizza Guy: Yeah, that sounds about right. 네, 꼭 그렇게 생겼어요

Monica: Was he wearing a stunning blue suit? 그리고 끝내주는 파란색 옷을 입었던가요?

Phoebe: And-and a power tie? 그리고 환상적인 넥타이도?

Pizza Guy: No, pretty much just a towel. 아뇨, 그냥 타월만 걸쳤던데요

Monica: (staggered) Oh God. 오, 세상에

Pizza Guy: So you guys want me to take this back? 다시 가져갈까요?

Monica: Are you nuts?! 당신 바보 아냐?
