[Scene: Central Perk, Rachel is introducing Phoebe, who is playing her guitar for the crowd.] 센트럴파크.  레이철이 군중들을 위해 기타를 치고 있는 피비를 소개하고 있다.  

 Rachel: Everybody? Shh, shhh. Uhhh... Central Perk is proud to present the music of Miss Phoebe Buffay. (applause) 여러분? 쉬 쉬~~~  센트럴파크는 피비 버페이양의 음악을 소개하는걸 자랑스럽게 생각합니다. 

Phoebe: Hi. Um, I want to start with a song thats about that moment when you suddenly realize what life is all about.  안녕하세요. 음.처음곡으로 여러분들이 갑자기 인생이 뭐인지 깨달은 그 순간에 대한 노래로 시작할게요. OK, here we go. (plays a chord, then the lights go out) OK, thank you very much. 자. 시작할게요. (코드를 진행하다가 갑자기 전기가 나간다)  감사합니다.  

 Opening Credits 

[Scene: Monica and Rachel's, Monica is on the phone with her mother. Phoebe, Rachel, and Ross are there.] 모니카는 전화로 엄마와 이야기 중이다.  피비와 레이철 로스가 함께 있다. 

 Rachel: Wow, this is so cool, you guys. The entire city is blacked out! 와우.. 이거 진짜 멋지다.  얘들아. 전체 도시가 다 정전이야. 

 Monica: Mom says it's all of Manhattan, parts of Brooklyn and Queens, 엄마가 드 러시는데 맨해튼 전부와 브루클린 퀸즈 일부분이 정전이래 and they have no idea when it's coming back on. 그리고 언제 들어온 지 아무도 모른데 

 Rachel: Wow, you guys, this is big. 와.. 엄청 큰일이구나. 

 Monica: (into phone) Pants and a sweater? Why, mom? Who am I gonna meet in a blackout?   전화에 대고) 바지하고 스웨터요? 왜요, 엄마? 정전 중에 제가 누굴 만나겠어요?  Power company guys? Eligible looters? Could we talk about this later? OK. (hangs up) 전기회사 직원?  믿음직한  도둑?  우리 나중에 이야기할까요? 좋아요. (전화를 끊는다) 

Phoebe: Can I borrow the phone? I want to call my apartment and check on my grandma.  내가 전화 좀 써도 될까? 나도 아파트로 전화해서 할머니 괜찮으신지 알아봐야겠어. (to Monica) What's my number?  (모니카에게) 내 번호가 뭐였지? 

 (Monica and Rachel look at Phoebe strangely.) 모니카와 레이철이 피비를 이상하게 쳐다본다. 

 Phoebe: Well, I never call me. 뭐. 내가 나한테 전화해본 적은 없으니깐 

 [Scene: Monica's apartment, Joey enters with a menorah, the candles lit.] 조이가 큰 촛대를 들고 들어오고 초에 불이 켜져 있다. 

Joey: Hi everyone. 안녕, 모두들 

 Ross: And officiating at tonight's blackout, is Rabbi Tribbiani. 오늘 정전 미사의 진행은 래비트리비아니입니다. 

Joey: Well, Chandler's old roomate was Jewish, and these are the only candles we have, so...  뭐, 챈들러의 옛 룸메가 유대인이었고 이게 우리가 가지고 있는 유일한 초라서.. Happy Chanukah, everyone. 모두들 즐거운 안식일이 되길. 

Phoebe: (at window) Eww, look. Ugly Naked Guy lit a bunch of candles. (창가에서) 으... 봐 못생긴 벌거벗은 남자가 엄청나게 많은 초에 불을 붙이고 있어. 

(They all look at the window, grossed out, then flinch in pain.) 모두 창가에서 바라보고.. 역겨워하고 공통으로 움찔한다. 

Rachel: That had to hurt! 저거 정말 다쳤겠어. (아마 화상 입은 듯)

[Scene: The ATM vestibule of a bank, Chandler is inside. The lights go out, and he realizes he is trapped inside.] 은행 ATM 건물 현관, 챈들러가 안에 있다.  전기가 나가고 그는 자신이 안에 갇혀있는 걸 깨달는다. 

Chandler: Oh, great. This is just... 오.. 멋지군(비꼬는) 이거 뭐.... 

 (Chandler sees that there is a gorgeous model inside the vestibule with him. He makes a gesture of quiet exuberance.) 챈들러는 그와 함께 현관 안에 아주 멋진 모델이 있다는 걸 보게 되고 조용히 충만한 기쁨의 표현을 한다. 

[Scene: ATM vestibule, Jill Goodacre is on the cellular phone. Chandler's thoughts are in italics.] 질 구 테커가 핸드폰을 하고 있다. 챈들러의 생각은 이탤릭체로 되어있다. 

Chandler: Oh my God, it's that Victoria's Secret model. Something... something Goodacre. 오. 맙소사.  빅토리아 시크릿 모델 같아..   구데이커 같은데.. 

 Jill: (on phone) Hi Mom, it's Jill. 전화로) 안녕, 엄마 나 질이야.  

Chandler: She's right, it's Jill. Jill Goodacre.  맞았어.  그녀가 질 구데이커 야. Oh my God. I am trapped in an ATM vestibule with Jill Goodacre! 맘 소사 내가 질 구데이커와 같이 현금인출기 코너에서 갇혀있다니..(pause) Is it a vestibule? Maybe it's an atrium. Oh, yeah, that is the part to focus on, you idiot! 이게 건물 현관이라고?  아마도 아티움이겠지.  지금 그게 집중할 부분이냐.  이 멍청아 

Jill: (on phone) Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just stuck at the bank, in an ATM vestibule. (전화로) 괜찮아요.  나 은행에 갇혀있어.  ATM 있는 현관에 

Chandler: Jill says vestibule... I'm going with vestibule. 질이 현관이라고 하네.  나도 현관으로 해야지. 

 Jill: (on phone) I'm fine. No, I'm not alone... I don't know, some guy. 전화에다) 괜찮아요.  아뇨. 혼자는 아니에요.  모르겠어요. 어떤 남자 

 Chandler: Oh! Some guy. Some guy. 'Hey Jill, I saw you with some guy last night. Yes, he was some guy.  오! 어떤 남자. 어떤 남자.. 헤이, 질  어제 방에 어떤 남자랑 함께 있는 너를 봤어. 그래. 내가 그 어떤 남자지. (Chandler strides proudly across the vestibule and Jill stares at him.) 챈들러가 자신감 있게 현관을 가로질러 간다.  질이 그를 노려본다. 

 [Scene: ATM vestibule.] 

 Chandler: Alright, alright, alright. It's been fourteen and a half minutes and you still have not said one word.  좋아 좋아 좋아.. 벌서 14분 30초가 지나갔어.  넌 여전히 한마디 말도 못 하고 있고. Oh God, do something. Just make contact, smile! 오 맙소사.  뭐라도 제발 해봐 , 접근을 해봐,  웃어! 

 (Chandler smiles at her, she smiles back sweetly.) 챈들러가 그녀에게 미소를 짓자  그녀도 미소 짓는다. 

Chandler: There you go! 잘했어. 

 (He continues to smile like an idiot, and she looks frightened.) 챈들러가 계속 바보처럼 웃자 그녀가 실망한 표정이다. 

 Chandler: You're definitely scaring here. 네가 분명히 그녀에게 겁을 준거야. 

Jill: (awkwardly) Would you like to call somebody? (offering phone) (어색하게) 전화할 사람 있어요? (전화기를 건네며) 

Chandler: Yeah, about 300 guys I went to high school with. Yeah, thanks. (takes phone) 네.. 고등학교 동창이 300명이 나있죠.    네. 고마워요. ( 전화기를 받는다) 

[Scene: Monica and Rachel's, The phone rings; it's Chandler.] 전화가 울리고 챈들러이다. 

 Monica: Hello? 여보세요? 

 Chandler: Hey, it's me. 헤이. 나야. 

 Monica: (to everyone) It's Chandler! (on phone) Are you OK? 모두에게) 챈들러다. (전화에 대고) 너 괜찮아? 

 Chandler: Yeah, I'm fine. (trying to cover up what he is saying) 응. 나 괜찮아.  ( 그가 말하는 걸 가리려고 애쓰면서) I'm trppd in an ATM vstbl wth Jll Gdcr. 나 지금 ATM 코너에 질구 더와 갇혀있어. 

Monica: What? 뭐? Chandler: I'm trppd... in an ATM vstbl... wth Jll Gdcr! 나... ATM... 코너에... 질구더와 갇혀있다고. 

 Monica: I have no idea what you just said. 네가 무슨 말하는지 모르겠어. 

 Chandler: (angry) Put Joey on the phone. (화내며) 조이에게 전화기 건네줘, 

 Joey: What's up man? 무슨일이야? 

Chandler: I'm trppd... in an ATM vstbl... wth JLL GDCR. 나... ATM... 코너에... 질구 더와 갇혀있다고. 

 Joey: (to everyone) Oh my God! He's trapped in an ATM vestibule with Jill Goodacre! 모두에게) 맙소사. 챈들러가 질 구데이커와  ATM 코너에 갇혀있데 

(on phone) Chandler, listen. (says something intentionally garbled) (전화로) 챈들러. 잘 들어.   ( 의도적으로 잘 알아들을 수 없는 말을 한다) 

Chandler: Yeah, like that thought never entered my mind. 응  내가 절대 생각조차 할 수 없는 것인데

[Scene: Monica and Rachel's, time has passed. The five are sitting around the coffee table talking.] 시간이 흐르고 다섯 명이 커피 테이블 주위에 앉아 이야기 중이다. 

 Rachel: Alright, somebody. 좋아. 누구 있어? 

Monica: OK, I'll go. OK, senior year of college... on a pool table. 좋아.  내가 먼저 할게.  대학 2학년 때. 당구 대위에서. 

All: Whoooaa! 와우!!!!! 

 Ross: That's my sister. 역시 내 동생이야. 

 Joey: OK... my weirdest place would have to be...  좋아.   나의 최고로 희한한 장소는...... the women's room on the second floor of the New York CIty public library. 뉴욕시티 공공도서관의 2층에 있는 여자화장실이야... 

 Monica: Oh my God! What were you doing in a library? 오 맙소사!!  너 도서관에서 뭐 하고 있었는데? ( 네가 도서관에는 왜 갔는데라는 의미^^;;) 

 Ross: Pheebs, what about you? 피비,, 너는 어때? 

 Phoebe: Oh... Milwaukee.  It's a really weird place. 오.. 밀워키.   진짜 이상한 장소였지? 

 Rachel: Um... Ross? 음.. 로스? 

 Ross: Disneyland, 1989, 'It's a Small World After All.' 989년  디즈니랜드..  소인국 나라에서 결국! 

 All: No way! 말도 안왜!!! 

 Ross: The ride broke down. So, Carol and I went behind a couple of those mechanical Dutch children...  놀이기구가 고장이 났어.  그래서 캐럴과 내가 저 기계로 작동되는 네덜란드 꼬마들 뒤에 있었지, then they fixed the ride, and we were asked never to return to the Magic Kingdom.  그리고 그들이 놀이기구를 고쳐서 우리는 다시는 매직킹던에 오지 말라는 요청을 받았지. Oh, Let's see, that leaves.. 자.. 누가 남았는지 보자.. ( 누가 남은 거지?) 

 Phoebe: Oh, Rachel. 오.. 레이철? 

 Rachel: Oh come on, I already went. 오 이런.  나 벌써 했잖아. 

 Monica: You did not go! 너 안 했어! 

All: Come on. 자.. 얘기해봐 

 Rachel: Oh, alright. The weirdest place would have to be... (sigh)... oh, the foot of the bed.  오.. 그래 좋아.  가장 희한한 장소는....(한숨 쉬며) 침대 끝에서야... ( 아주 순진한 레이철 ^^) 

 Ross: Step back. 자 다들 뒤로 물러나  (레이철을 이길 수 없다는 의미) 

Joey: We have a winner! 우리가  드디어 승자를 찾았네.  

[Time lapse, Ross and Rachel are talking, Joey is on the couch, and Monica and Phoebe are out of the room.] 시간이 지나거. 로스와 레이철이 대화중이다.  조이는 소파에 있고 모니카와 피비는 방에 없다. 

Rachel: I just never had a relationship with that kind of passion,  니는 한 번도 그런종류의 열정을 가지고 사람과의 관계를 가져본적이 없어. (나는 한번도 열정적인 사랑을 해본 적이  없어 정도의 의미) you know, where you have to have somebody right there, in the middle of a theme park. 알다시피  놀이공원 한가운데서 누군가와 사랑을 확인한다든가 같은 그런 관계... 

Ross: Well, it was the only thing to do there that didn't have a line. 음.. 그건 줄 서지 않는 상황에서 유일하게 할 만한 것이었어. (놀이동산에 갔는데 기계고장으로 놀이기구도 탈 수 없는 상황이라 할 수 있는 유일한 것이었다는 의미인 듯) 

Rachel: There, well, see? Barry wouldn't even kiss me on a miniature golf course.  음.. 알아? 배리는 미니골프장에서 심지어 키스조차 해주지 않았는걸.. 

Ross: Come on. 말도 안 돼. 

Rachel: No, he said we were holding up the people behind us. 진짜야.  배리는 (키스하면) 우리 뒤에 있는 사람들을 기다리게 한다는 식으로 말했거든. 

Ross: (sarcastically) And you didn't marry him because...? 냉소적으로) 네가 배리랑 결혼 안 한 이유가 그럼? 

Rachel: I mean, do you think there are people who go through life never having that kind of... 내 말은 그런 종류의 열정을 가지지 않은 상태로 평생을 살아가는 사람도 있다고 생각 안 해봤어? 

Ross: Probably. But you know, I'll tell you something. Passion is way overrated.  아마 있겠지,  그렇지만 너도 알잖아.  내가 긴히 해줄 말이 있는데  열정은 지나치게 과평가된거야. 

Rachel: Yeah right. 그래. 맞아 

Ross: It is. Eventually, it kind of... burns out. But hopefully, what you're left with is trust, and security, and...  그래. 결국에는 약간 다 소진되어버리는 거지.  그렇지만 바라건대 너에게 남겨진 게 신뢰와 안정감.. 그리고 well, in the case of my ex-wife, lesbianism. 음.. 내 전처의 경우에는 그게 레즈비언이었지만. So, you know, for all of those people who miss out on that passion... thing, there's all that other good stuff. 그래서.. 알다시피,  그런 열정적인 감정을 놓쳐버린 사람들에게 다른 좋은 것들이 있어. 

Rachel: (sigh) OK. (한숨 쉬면서) 좋아. 

Ross: But, um... I don't think that's going to be you. 그렇지만.. 음.. 네가 그런 거라고 생각 안 해. (네가 그런 열정적인 부분을 놓쳐 버린 사람이라고 생각 안 해) 

Rachel: You don't. 그렇게 생각 안 해? 

Ross: Uh-uh. See, I see.... big passion in your future. 어어.. 알아.. 나는 너의 미래에 커다란 열정이 있다는 걸 알아. 

Rachel: Really? 진짜? 

Ross: Mmmm.으음.. 

Rachel: You do? 너 정말 내가 열정이 있다고 생각해? 

Ross: I do. 응응 

Rachel: Oh Ross, you're so great. (she playfully rubs his head and gets up) 오, 로스.  너 정말 멋져.  (  장난스럽게 로스의 머리를 만지고 일어난다.) 

(Ross gets up, pleased with himself.) (로스가 일어나서 기뻐한다.) 

Joey: It's never gonna happen. 절대 그런 일 안 일어날 거야. 

Ross: (innocently) What? (순진하게) 뭐가? 

Joey: You and Rachel. 너와 레이철 말이야 

Ross: (acts surprised) What? (pause) Me and Ra? Why not? (놀란듯하게 행동하며) 뭐??  나와 레이철이? 왜 안돼? 

Joey: Because you waited too long to make your move, and now you're in the friend zone.  네가 행동하는데 너무 오래 기다려서 이미 너는 친구 지역에 들어섰어. 

Ross: No, no, no. I'm not in the zone. 아냐. 아냐. 아냐. 나는 친구지역에 있지 않아. 

Joey: Ross, you're mayor of the zone. 로스, 너는 그지역의 시장이야. (왕이야.  친구로서는 아주 좋아) 

Ross: I'm taking my time, alright? I'm laying the groundwork.  나는 시간이 좀 걸릴 뿐이야.  나는 지금 기반을 쌓고 있어. Yeah. I mean, every day I get just a little bit closer to... 내 말은.. 매일매일 나는 조금씩 가까이 가고 있어. 

Joey: Priesthood! Look Ross, I'm telling you, she has no idea what you're thinking.  성직자의 길로??? 봐봐. 로스. 내가 긴히 말해줄게 레이철은 네가 생각하는걸 전혀 몰라. 

Ross: She just ran her fingers through my hair. 그녀가 내 머리카락 만졌잖아. Were you missing that interaction? 너 그 반응 놓친 거야? ( 너 그거 못 봤어?) 

Joey: No, no, no. 그거 아냐. 아냐. 아냐. This is running fingers through your hair. 이게 사랑스러운 머리 만지기이고. This is a tousle. 이건 그냥 머리 헝클어뜨리기지.  If you don't ask her out soon you're going to end up stuck in the zone forever. 만약 네가 레이철에게 데이트 신청을 안 한다면  너는 결국 영원히 친구관계에 갇히게 될 거야. 

Ross: I will, I will. See, I'm waiting for the right moment. (Joey looks at him) What? What, now? 할 거야. 할 거라고. 단지 적시를 기다리고 있는 거라고.  ( 조이가 그를 본다.) 머? 뭐 지금? 

Joey: Yeeeeaaaahhh! What's messing you up? The wine? The candles? The moonlight?  예!!!!!!!!   대체 뭐가 너에게 문제인 거야?   와이? 양초? 달빛? You've just got to go up to her and say, 'Rachel, I think that...' (Rachel comes into the room behind them) 너 그냥 가서 말하기만 하면 되는 거야.  레이철. 내 생각에는  ( 레이철이 그들 뒤에서 방으로 들어온다.) 

Ross: Shhhh! 쉬!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 

Rachel: What are you shushing? 왜 쉬쉬거리는 거야? 

Ross: We're shushing... because... we're trying to hear something. 우리가 뭔가 소리를 들으려고 해서 조용히 하라는 거야.. Listen. (everyone is silent) Don't you hear that? 들어봐 ( 모두 조용해진다. ) 너 저 소리 안 들려? 

Rachel: Ahhhh! 아~~! 

Ross: See? 알겠어? 

Rachel: Huh. (she agrees, but looks very confused) 허... ( 레이철이 동의는 하지만 약간 혼란스러워 보인다.) 

[Scene: Monica's apartment, Phoebe is singing.] 

Phoebe: (singing) New York City has no power, and the milk is getting sour. But to me it is not scary, 'cause I stay away from dairy.... la la la, la la, la la... (she writes the lyrics down) 

Ross: (to Joey) OK, here goes. (조이에게) 좋아.. 간다. 

Joey: Are you going to do it? 너 할 거야? (고백할 거야?) 

Ross: I'm going to do it. 응 고백할 거야. 

Joey: Do you want any help? 도움 필요해? 

Ross: You come out there, you're a dead man. 네가 나오면 넌 죽었어 

Joey: Good luck, man. 행운을 빈다.  

Ross: Thanks. (Joey hugs him) OK. 고마워 ( 조이가 로스를 안아준다)  좋아. 

Joey: OK. (Ross goes out on the balcony to talk to Rachel) 좋아.  ( 로스가 발코니로 나가서 레이철에게 말을 건다) 

[Scene: Monica and Rachel's Balcony, Ross and Rachel are talking.] 

Rachel: Hmmm... this is so nice. 흠... 너무 좋다. 

Ross: With all the lights out you can actually see the stars. 모든 불빛이 나가니 정말로 별들을 볼 수 있네. 

Ross: OK, I have a question. Well, actually, it's not so much a question as.. more of a general wondering... ment. 좋아.. 질문이 있어.  음.. 사실.  질문이라기보다는 그냥 일반적인 궁금함 이상인 건데.. 

Rachel: OK. 좋아. 

Ross: OK. Here goes. For a while now, I've been wanting to, um.... 좋아. 있잖아.  꽤 오랫동안  내가 원해왔던 건데.. 음.. 

Rachel: Ohhh!!!! (looking at something behind Ross) 오!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( 로스 뒤의 뭔가를 바라보며) 

Ross: Yes, yes, that's right... 그래. 그래. 맞아.. 

Rachel: Oh, look at the little cat! (a small kitten is on the roof behind Ross) 오, 저 새끼 고양이를 봐!!! ( 작은 새끼 고양이가 로스 뒤의 지붕에 있다. ) 

Ross: What? (the cat jumps on his shoulders) Ow! 뭐??? ( 고양이가 로스의 어깨 위로 점프한다) 우이!! 

[Cut to inside. Monica, Joey and Phoebe are singing while outside, Ross and Rachel are trying to get the cat off of Ross' shoulder.] 로스와 레이철이 고양이를 로스의 어깨에서 떨어뜨리려고 노력하는 중에 모니카 조이 피비는 노래를 한다) 

Monica, Joey, and Phoebe: (singing) I'm on top of the world, looking down on creation and the only explanation I can find, is the wonders I've found ever since... 

[Scene: ATM vestibule.]

Jill: Would you like some gum? 껌 드실래요? 

Chandler: Um, is it sugarless? 음.. 무설탕인가요? 

Jill: (checks) Sorry, it's not. (확인해본다)  미안해요. 무설탕이 아니네요. 

Chandler: Oh, then no thanks.  아.. 그ᄅ면 고맙지만 됐어요. 

What the hell was that? Mental note: If Jill Goodacre offers you gum, you take it.  지금 도대체 뭐 하는 거야?  기억해두자: 만약 질구 데어 커가 너에게 껌을 주면 그냥 받아. If she offers you mangled animal carcass, you take it. 만약 그녀가 너에게 남도 질 당한 동물 시체를 준다 해도 그냥 받으란 말이야. 

Chandler: Alright.  Damage control.  Go back to the gum. 좋아.  수습을 해보자.   다시 껌으로 돌아가는 거야. You know, on second thought, gum would be perfection. 있잖아요.  다시 생각해보니까 껌이 아주 좋을 거 같아요. 

(Jill gives him a stick of gum, and a strange look) 질이 챈들러에게 껌 하나를 건네주고 이상하다는 듯이 쳐다본다. 

Gum would be perfection? 껌이 좋을 거라고? Gum would be perfection. 껌이 좋을 거라니... Could have said "Gum would be nice." or I 'll have a stick.  그냥 껌이 있으면 좋을 거 같아요.라고 할 수도 있었고. 아니면 껌 하나 받을 수 있을까요 도 있는데 but no. no. no. no.  For me gum is perfection.  I loathe myself. 아니. 아니. 아니. 아냐.  나에게는 껌이 좋네요. 가 제일 낫다.  나 자신이 정말 너무 싫다.  

[Scene: ATM vestibule.] 

Chandler: (chewing gum) Ah, let's see. What next? Blow a bubble. (껌을 씹으며)  아.. 보자.  이제 뭐하지? 풍선을 불자. A bubble's good. It's got a... boyish charm, it's impish. Here we go. 풍선 부는 건 좋아.  그건.. 음.. 소년 같은 매력이 있지..  약간 버릇없어 보이고( 나쁜 남자 같은)  자! 가보자.

(Chandler waits until Jill is looking, then starts to blow a bubble. But instead of blow one, he accidentally spits the gum out of his mouth and hits the wall.) (챈들러는 질이 볼 때까지 기다린다.  그러고 나서 풍선을 불기 시작한다.  그러나 풍선을 부는 대신에 우연찮게 껌을 뱉게 되고 벽에 붙는다. ) 

Chandler: Nice going, imp. OK, it's OK. All I need to do is reach over and put it in my mouth.  좋은 이미지야...  좋아. 좋아.  내가 해야 하는 것은 손을 뻗어서 다시 입에 넣는 거야 

(Chandler slyly grabs the gum from the wall and slides it back in his mouth.) 챈들러가 음흉하게 벽에서 껌을 떼고 그것을 다시 입에 넣는다.  

Chandler: Good save! We're back on track, and I'm... (grimacing) (grimacing).. chewing someone else's gum. 잘 살렸어.  다시 제자리로 돌아왔어.  그리고 나는 (얼굴을 찌푸리며) 누군가 다른 사람의 껌을 씹는 거 같군 

This is not my gum. Oh my God! Oh my God! And now you're choking.  이건 내 껌이 아니야.  오 맙소사. 아 목에 걸렸다. 

(Chandler starts to choke.) 챈들러가 숨이 막히기 시작한다. 

Jill: Are you alright? 괜찮아요? 

(Chandler tries to save face and makes the 'OK' sign with his hands, while obviously unable to breathe.) (챈들러가 명백하게 숨을 쉴 수 없음에도  체면을 차리려고 손으로 오케이 사인을 만든다. ) 

Jill: My God, you're choking! (she runs over and gives him the Heimlich, the gum flies from his mouth) That better? 이런, 당신 숨 막히는군요.  ( 질이 달려가서 하임리히 요법을 실행한다.) (껌이 입에서 나온다) 괜찮죠? 

Chandler: (gasping) Yes... thank you. That was... that was.... (헐떡거리며) 네.. 고마워요.  저건... 저건.. 

Jill: Perfection? 완벽하죠?  

[Scene: ATM vestibule, Chandler and Jill are sitting below the counter with two pens dangling from their chains in front of them. Jill is showing Chandler how to swing the pen around his head.] 챈들러와 징이 그들 앞에 체인에 두 개의 펜이  매달려 있는 카운터 아래에 앉아있다.  질이 챈들러에게 그의 머리 주위로 펜이 움직이는 법을 보여주고 있다) 

Jill: Chandler, we've been here for an hour doing this! Now watch, it's easy. 챈들러, 우리 한 시간째 이걸 하고 있어요.  쉽죠. 

Chandler: OK. 좋아요. 

Jill: Ready? (she swings the pen around her head in a circle) 준비됐어요?  ( 그녀는 펜을 그녀의 머리 주위로 원을 그리며 돌게 한다) 

Jill: OK. Now try it. 좋아요.  이제 해봐요. 

(Chandler tries to do the same thing but the pen hits him in the head.) 챈들러가 똑같이 하려고 하지만 펜이 그의 머리를 친다.  

Jill: No, you've got to whip it.  아뇨. 세게 휘둘러야지요. 

(He swings the pen hard, and it snaps back and almost hits him again.) 챈들러가 펜을 세게 휘두르고 다시 뒤로 튕겨와서 거의 그를 때릴뻔하다. 

[Scene: ATM vestibule, the power has come back on.] 전기가 다시 들어옴 

Jill: Well, this has been fun. 음.. 재미있었어요. 

Chandler: Yes. Yes, thanks for letting me use your phone... and for saving my life. 당신 전화를 사용하게 해 주어서 고마워요.  내 생명을 구해준 것도요. 

Jill: Well, goodbye Chandler. I had a great blackout. (she kisses him on the cheek) See ya. 음.. 잘 가요. 챈들러.  엄청난 정전사고였어요.  ( 그녀가 챈들러의 빰에 키스한다. ) 안녕 

(She leaves. Chandler presses his face to the glass door after her, stroking the window lovingly. He then turns to the security camera and starts talking to it.) 그녀가 떠나고 팬들러는 그녀를 따라 유리문에 얼굴을 누른다. 창문을 사랑스럽게 두드린다. 그는 CCTV로 몸을 돌리고 말을 시작한다. 

Chandler: Hi, um, I'm account number 7143457. And, uh, I don't know if you got any of that, but I would really like a copy of the tape. 안녕. 내 계좌번호는 7143457입니다..... 음.. 나는 잘 모르겠지만.  만약 당신이 그것 중에 어느 걸 가졌다면 (만약 질이 키스해주는 장면이 찍혔다면) 나는 정말 그 테이프의 복사본을 원합니다. 

( Monica walks in, starts to go out on the balcony.) 모니카가 들어와서 발코니로 나가기 시작한다.

Joey: Hey, where are you going? 어!어어디가는거야?

Monica: Outside.밖에

Joey: You can't go out there. 너 거기 나가면 안 돼..

Monica: Why not? 왜 안되는데?

Joey: Because of... the reason. 왜냐면...왜냐면이유는

Monica: And that would be? 그래서 이유가 뭔데?

Joey: I, um, can't tell you. 엄..엄나는 너에게 말해줄 수 없어.

Monica: Joey, what's going on? 조이,조이무슨일이야?

Joey: OK, you've got to promise that you'll never, ever tell Ross that I told you. 좋아..좋아그럼 네가 절대 내가 말했다고 로스에게 말하지 않기로 약속해.

Monica: About what? 무엇에 대해서?

Joey: He's planning your birthday party. 로스가 너 생일파티를 계획 중이거든..

Monica: Oh my God! I love him! 오 맙소사. 오빠가 너무 좋아!

Joey: (as Phoebe enters) You'd better act surprised. (피비가 들어선다) 너 놀란 척하는 게 좋겠어.

Phoebe: About what? 뭐에 대해서?

Monica: My surprise party! 내 깜짝 파티!!

Phoebe: What surprise party? 무슨 깜짝 파티??

Monica: Oh stop it. Joey already told me. 오.오그만해. 조이가 이미 나에게 말했어.

Phoebe: Well, he didn't tell me. 음..음조이가 나한테는 말 안 했는데

Joey: Hey, don't look at me. This is Ross's thing. 헤이..헤이나 보지 마.로스가 한 일이니까

Phoebe: This is so typical. I'm always the last one to know everything. 이건 그냥 매번 있는 일이야.나는 항상 모든 걸 가장 마지막에 알게 되거든.

Monica: No, you are not. We tell you stuff. 아냐. 그렇지 않아. 우리가 너에게 다 이야기하는 걸..

Phoebe: Yuh-huh! I was the last one to know when Chandler got bitten by the peacock at the zoo. 어어!! 챈들러가 동물원에서 앵무새에게 물렸을 때도 가장 나중에 알았잖아. I. was the last one to know when you had a crush on Joey when he was moving in. 조이가 이사 왔을 때 네가 조이에게 마음이 있었다는 것도 마지막에 알았고.

(Monica gestures at Phoebe to shut up; Joey looks surprised but pleased)(모니카가 피비에게 조용히 하라고 손짓한다. 조이는 놀랐지만 기뻐한다.)

Looks like I was second to last. 내가 마지막에서 두 번째인 거 같네. ( 나 말고 모르는 사람이 있네 )

Joey: You had crush on me? 네가 나한테 반했다고?

Monica: All right. It wasn't a crush, it was a dent. 좋아.좋아반한 건 아니고. 좀 인상적이었어..

Joey: Big dent? 많이 반한 거야??

Monica: Ok, look, you were moving your furniture upstairs. I thought you had nice arms. 좋아.좋아음.. 네가 가구를 위층으로 옮길 때였어. 그냥 너 팔 근육이 멋지다는 생각 들었어..

Joey: Nice arms, huh? Hey, Mon. I am moving the chair. 팔근육이 멋지다고? 허? 헤이, 모니카 나 지금 의자 옮긴다. Doing. anything for you? 너에게 뭔가 하는 거 같아? 

[Scene: Monica and Rachel's, Phoebe is holding the cat, Monica is treating the scratches on Ross' back. Joey is holding the menorah over the wound.] 피비가 고양이를 안고 있다. 모니카가 로스의 등에 난 긁힌 상처 부위를 치료하고 있다 조이는 상처 위로 촛대를 들고 있다.

Monica: (to Ross) This is just Bactine. It won't hurt.(로스에게) 이거 그냥 소독약이야. 아프지 않을 거야

(Ross flinches in pain.) 로스가 고통으로 움찔한다.

Joey: Sorry, that was wax. 미안, 촛농이 떨어졌네.

Phoebe: Oh, poor little Tooty is scared to death. We should find his owner. 오, 가엾은 새끼 고양이가 무서워서 죽을 것 같나 봐.우리 주인을 찾아 줘야 해..

Ross: Why don't we just put 'poor little Tooty' out in the hall? 가엾은 고양이를 그냥 복도에 내놓으면 안 될까??

Rachel: During a blackout? He'd get trampled! 정전인데? 짓밟힐 수도 있어.

Ross: (nonchalantly) Yeah?  (무심하게) 응? (그게 어때서란 의미)

[Scene: The hallway of Monica's building. Phoebe and Rachel are trying to find the cat's owner.] 모니카 집의 복도. 피비와 레이철이 고양이 주인을 찾으려고 노력 중이다..

Phoebe: (stops at a door) Oh no, the Mendels, they hate all living things, right? (문가에 서면서) 아, 아냐. 멘델 씨 가족은. 그들은 모든 살아있는 것들을 싫어하잖아,그치?

Rachel: Oh. (they knock at the next door, Mr. Heckles answers) Hi. We just found this cat and we're looking for the owner. 오. ( 그들은 다음 집에 노크한다 HeclesHecles 씨가 대답한다) 우리가 막 이 고양이를 찾았는데 주인을 찾고 있어요..

Mr. Heckles: Er, yeah, it's mine. 어? 네! 내고양이에요.

Phoebe: (trying to hold back the struggling cat) He seems to hate you. Are you sure?(발버둥 치는( 고양이를 제지하면서) 고양이가 당신을 싫어하는 거 같은데요. 확실해요?

Mr. Heckles: Yeah, it's my cat. Give me my cat. 네.네내 고양이예요. 나에게 고양이 주세요.

Phoebe: Wait a minute. What's his name? 잠깐만요. 고양이 이름이 머죠?

Mr. Heckles: Ehhhh... B-Buttons. 어.... B-버튼이요.

Rachel: Bob Buttons? 밥 버튼?

Mr. Heckles: Mmm. Bob Buttons. Here, Bob Buttons. 네 그래요, 밥 버튼스. 이리 오너라, 밥 버튼스야

Phoebe: (the cat runs away from her) Oooh! You are a very bad man! 고양이가 그녀로부터 도망친다. 오. 당신 나쁜 사람이군요

Mr. Heckles: (as Phoebe and Rachel leave) You owe me a cat. (피비와 레이철을 떠나며) 당신 나에게 고양이 한 마리 빚진 거야..

[Scene: Rachel has gone off on her own to look for the cat's owner.] 레이철이 고양이 주인을 찾기 위해 혼자서 나간다.

Rachel: Here, kitty-kitty. Here kitty-kitty. Where did you go, little kitty-kitty-kitty? 나비야,나비야어디 있니? 나비야,나비야, Here kitty-kitty-kitty-kitty... 야옹야옹 이리 오렴.

(While looking at the floor for the cat, Rachel runs into a pair of legs. She slowly gets up and sees a gorgeous Italian hunk holding the cat. Who, by the way, you'll hate very, very soon. The man. Not the cat.)(고양이를 찾으러 바닥을 보는 동안, 레이철은 다리 한 쌍을 우연히 마주친다. 그녀는 천천히 일어서고 고양이를 안고 있는 멋진 이태리 남자를 본다. 그나저나 여러분들은 고양이가 아니라 그 남자를 곧 미워할 것이다. )

Paolo: (something Italian)(이태리어로 무언가)

Rachel: Wow. (she exhales in amazement, blowing the candle out) 와우( 그녀는 놀라서 숨을 내쉬고 초가 꺼진다. )

[Scene: Monica and Rachel's, Ross, Monica, and Joey are playing Monopoly.]Monopoly.] 로스와 모니카 조이가 모노폴리를 하고 있다.

Ross: (rolling) Lucky sixes.... (굴리면서) 행운의 6

Rachel: (entering with Paolo, arm in arm) 팔짱을 끼고 파올로와 들어온다. Everybody,. this is Paolo. Paolo, I want you to meet my friends. This is Monica. 얘들아,얘들아여기는 파올로, 파올로, 내 친구들이야. 이쪽은 모니카.

Monica: (smitten) Hi! (홀딱 반해서) 안녕!

Rachel: And Joey.... 그리고 조이..

Monica: Hi!안녕!

Rachel: And Ross. 그리고 로스

Monica: Hi!안녕!

Paolo: (something in Italian)(무언가 이태리어로 말한다)

Rachel: (proudly) He doesn't speak much English.(자랑스럽게) 그는 영어를 잘 못해

Paolo: (pointing at game) Monopoly!(게임을 가리키면서) 모노폴리!

Rachel: Look at that! 저것 봐(의미적으로는 저것도 알다니)

Ross: (jealous) So, um... where did Paolo come from?(질투하면서) 그래서, 음.. 파올로 어디 출신인데?

Rachel: Oh... Italy, I think. 아..아이탈리아. 내생각엔

Ross: No, I mean tonight, in the building. Suddenly. Into our lives. 아니,아니내 말은 오늘 밤에 건물에서.. 갑자기 우리 삶으로 들어왔네

Rachel: Well, the cat... the cat turned out to be Paolo's cat! That is funny. 음..음그고양이그 고양이..그 고양이가 파올로의 고양이였어. 웃기지

Ross: That, that is funny... (to Joey).... and Rachel keeps touching him. 읏긴 것은...(조이에게) 레이철이 계속 저 남자를 만진다는 거야..

(Phoebe enters.)(피비가 들어온다)

Phoebe: Alright. I looked all over the building and I couldn't find the kitty anywhere. 좋아.좋아내가 건물 전체를 찾아봤어. 어디에서도 고양이를 찾을 수 없었어.

Rachel: Oh, I found him. He was Paolo's cat. 내가 찾았어. 그 고양이 파올로의 고양이야.

Phoebe: Ah! Well! There you go! Last to know again! And I'm guessing... since nobody told me... this is Paolo. 아!아그렇군. 이번에도 마지막으로 알게 되었네. 그리고 내가 추측해보건대..아무도 나에게 말 안 해주니까이 쪽이 파올로 군

Rachel: Ah, Paolo, this is Phoebe아, 파올로 피비야.

Paolo: (something in Italian, he is apparently attracted to Phoebe)(이태리어로 무언가, 그는 분명히 피비에게 매력을 느끼는 거 같다.)

Phoebe: (smiling) You betcha!(웃으면서) 당연하죠.

[Scene: Monica and Rachel's, Rachel and Paolo are at the window. Ross and Joey are watching disgustedly.]disgustedly.] 레이철과 피비가 창가에 있다. 로스와 조이는 넌더리 난다는 듯이 지켜보고 있다.

Paolo: (something romantic in Italian about Rachel and the stars) 레이철과 별에 대해서 이태리어로 무언가 로맨틱한 말을 한다.

Ross: (mocking Paolo) Blah blah blah, blah blah blah... blah blaaaaaah....(파올로를 흉내 내며)어쩌고저쩌고 블라블라

(Rachel walks away from Paolo, laughing.) 레이텔이 파올로에게서 멀어지며 웃는다.

Ross: Wha-What did he say that was so funny? 그 녀석이 말한 거 뭐가 그리 웃긴데?

Rachel: I have absolutely no idea. 전혀 모르겠어 ( 못 알아듣겠어)

Ross: That's... that's classic. 그거...그거그거 재미있군..

Rachel: (to Monica and Phoebe) Oh my God, you guys, what am I doing? What am I doing? This is so un-me!(모니카와 피비에게) 오, 맙소사. 얘들아. 나 지금 뭐 하고 있지? 이건 전혀 나답지 않은데

Monica: If you want, I'll do it. 네가 원하면, 내가 할게. ( 의미적으로 레이철이 망설이는듯하자 못 할거 같으면 내가 사귀어본다고)

(Ross looks at Joey.) 로스가 조이를 본다

Rachel: God, the first time he smiled at me... 맙소사,맙소사그가 나를 보고 웃는 바로 그 첫 순간에 those three seconds were more exciting than three weeks in Bermuda with Barry. 배리와 버뮤다에서 3주간 있었던 시간보다 그 3초가 더 흥분되었어.

[Cut to the other side of the apartment, Ross has gone over to straighten things out with Paolo.]Paolo.] 아파트의 다른 쪽.로스가 파올로와 일을 해결하기 위해 다가간다

Ross: Paolo. Hi. 파올로, 안녕

Paolo: Ross! 로스!

(Ross notices that Paolo is standing on a step, which makes him taller. Ross gets up on the same step so he can look down at Paolo.)(로스는 파올로가 키 커 보이게 하는 계단 위에 서있는 것을 알아차린다. 파올로를 내려다보기 위해서 로스가 같이 계단에 올라선다)

Ross: Listen. Um, listen. Something you should... know... um, Rachel and I... we're kind of a thing. 있잖아요. 음.. 당신이 알아야 할 것이 음.. 레이철과 나는 조금 그런 사이예요.

Paolo: Thing? 사이?

Ross: Thing, yes. Thing. 사이,사이네.. 사이

Paolo: Ah, you... have the sex? 아..아당신들 잤나요?

(time lapse)... negative 46, negative 47, negative 48.... (someone blows it out, the room gets completely dark)(숫자를 세는데 안 꺼짐) (누군가가 불어버린다. 방이 완전히 어둡다)

Ross: Thank you. 고마워고마워

Phoebe: Thanks.고마워

Ross: Kinda... spooky without any lights. 약간..약간빛이 없으니 약간 으스스한데

Joey: (does a maniacal laugh) Bwah-hah-hah!(조이가 미친 듯 웃는다) 으하하하하

(Everyone starts to imitate him.) 모두 조이를 따라 한다..

Ross: OK, guys, guys? I have the definitive one. Mwwwooooo-hah-hah... 좋아.좋아얘들아, 얘들아? 내가 명확하게 보여줄게.. 무하하하하

(The lights come back on, and Rachel and Paolo are making out. Ross clutches his chest.) 전기가 다시 커지고 레이철과 파올로가 서로 만지고 있다. 로스가 가슴을 부여잡는다.

Joey: Hey Ross. This probably isn't the best time to bring it up, but you have to throw a party for Monica. 헤이..헤이로스. 이 말 꺼내기에 좋은 시간은 아닌 거 같은데 너 모니카를 위한 파티 열어야 해..
